Fortunately it is still political suicide to attack gun ownership in this country. They will instead try to incrementally chip away at us with their talk of bans on assault rifles, high cap mags, etc.

Everybody knows that will really stop criminals... right?

Who exactly in "capiltol hill" is calling for tighter gun control? I hate when the media takes something like this an put their own liberal spin. Of all the interviews I've seen on the news, there's not one pro-carry conceal person interviewed. I quit watching.

Well guys, I'd say everything all the "conspiracy theorists" have been talking about for the last few years is falling right on schedule. I love how they claim banning high capacity magazines will make a difference. It takes 1 second to drop a mag and pop another one in. Again, more gun control that is not about guns, but about control. These people are deliberately ignoring reality and they are so wrong it's not even funny. And what's funny is to assume nobody could have done this with a 5 shot revolver. Speedloaders? Yeah I can speedload pretty damn fast, and I'm sure the next guy can too.

Ole looser Lautenburg and the idiot mayor of ny are the ones currently in the news. We all know they are hot air and grandstanding as usual. From the reports so far, the shooter didn't have a criminal record and no "I'm an idiot" tatoo on his forehead. No matter how many laws the morons on capitol hill dream up, it won't stop criminals like this. Other people in the threater with concealed weapons would have had a lot better chance. From what I have seen so far, there weren't any because of the idiotic theater policy of disarmament. Cinemark needs to be sued down to their last penny for creating this situation in the first place.

I noticed "security has been ramped up at theaters across America". I'm guessing people are going to be calling to make ALL theaters "gun free zones" now. I'd say the chance of an "assault weapons ban" along with high capacity magazine ban, although obviously useless, is much more likely now. Pretty soon it's gonna be gun owners and gun rights activists against the world. I can't stand when people online say, "England has blah blah blah less murders than the U.S.", as if disarming the U.S.A. and disarming England would have the same outcome. (Also as if England is really that much safer than us).

I saw Diane Feinstein, on Fox, this morning touting a ban on high capacity "clips".

Ya' reckon' they're talkin' about the same thing?

On a side note : I read an article on Yahoo this morning that said the gunman's assault rifle jammed during the attack and he turned to his other weapons. Good thing Gander Mountain doesn't sell the AK47.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how quick they could "ban" high cap mags if they really wanted to? Would this take months, weeks or could it be done by next week? I'm pretty much convinced a ban of some kind is coming as a result of this. So sad they feel like they always have to have someone or something to blame for tragedies, when some of them were just unavoidable unless you can literally predict the future.

By the way I heard 3 eyewitness accounts that there was a 2nd shooter. Also that there were 2 gas cans deployed simultaneously on each end of the theater. That would be impossible if this guy were alone. I'm convinced he was working with someone else. Someone with $$$ it seems. That means one lunatic terrorist (because that's exactly what this is, terrorism) may still be on the loose.

I'm serious this is not an average (for lack of a better word) "mass shooting" this was more like an act of war.

Somebody tell me how punishing law abiding citizens will improve safety? Going after high cap mags is simply ridiculous.

It's about as stupid as California prohibiting anything over 10 round mags. My Glock 17 holds 17 rounds in a standard mag. WTF? I guess 10 rounds are not going to kill anybody... but 17 will?

It takes mere second or two to swap in another full mag...

    Liberal logic.

With the election coming up I don't think anything serious will happen as far as gun control. It is political suicide. But we shall see.

Colorado would have been a bad place for the shooter to try this if the theater was not a gun free zone. This is proof gun free zones don't work. They will never be able to disarm the bad guys but they will be able to take the equalizers out of the hands of the law-abiding citizens. I enjoyed watching the videos of Ms. Hupp, a survivor of the Killeen, TX Luby's massacre talking to the Senate. She concluded by saying guns in the hands of citizens are also to protect us from politicians. She is called Dr. now.

Well yeah, I agree with you, banning high cap mags will do nothing to stop gun violence, just like damn near any other gun control measures they've come up with, but that doesn't mean they are not going to try to do it. They refuse to admit they are wrong and could care less about our safety, well being or our rights. They think they are morally and intellectually superior to us, so I am expecting to hear more liberal banter about banning high cap mags in the coming days and weeks. I'm just curious to know how quick they could get it done if they really wanted to. I have a few "high cap" magazines myself. I'm not familiar with the process of passing "bans" or anything like that, I am just wondering if this is an act of Congress or can be done with one of Obama's "Executive Orders".

Damn this guy must be a piece of work. What the hell did this guy do that was such a red flag that a guy talking to him on the phone knew something was wrong with him? I wonder if he identified himself as a comic book character. I'd have shot his application down too if that were the case.

Clarify. " on the phone" is my tapatalk Sig line.

    on the phone

Ohhh....funny...but still, I wonder what the guys reasoning was for rejecting the application? I mean obviously the guy was crazy but I wonder what the red flag was. I'm wondering if he showed up to the range with his hair died red claiming he was the Joker, or with a gas mask on. Something definitely wasn't right about this guy. The part that gets me is the fact that this seems to have been a fairly new pattern of behavior for this guy. Something changed in the last few months.

And I don't know if I am the only one who sees any relevance in the eyewitness accounts of another shooter, but the fact that he was acting with someone else pretty much means there is still a lunatic killer on the loose in Colorado, and needs to be found. Also if one person snaps and kills people, it's a random act of violence, aka "shooting rampage"...but if he is acting with someone else, they were on a mission, they were trying to accomplish something. What was it? Does anyone else wonder these things or is this just something only I see the significance of? Just wondering because I'd think that more people would be talking about this fact. I do not believe this was a random attack. Don't know what it was, but random is definitely not it.
