My non-turbo Vette will do it in under 4sec, consistently. I'd like to see an STi do 0-60in 4.5sec 5 times in a row without burning up the clutch. Most people with AWD are fanboys that think it makes them God's gift to launching a car. I've yet to lose to an AWD off the line in any of my lowly RWD cars. Like lots of squids on sport bikes, what a vehicle is capable of is usually far from what the driver is capable of.

It'll take a lot more than 400awhp to keep up with a Ferrari or Lambo.

My Vette is a hatchback also and has more cargo space than a Subaru.

Okay dude... I am offering up suggestions to Kyle for a car that gets good gas mileage and has some balls. Not trying to get into a pissing match with some guy who wants to go down the "my vette will eat your STI" road. Sorry you fuxed up your STI in 50 miles, but it doesn't mean that mine and everyone eles's sucks.

    Why all the hate?

    -edit-
Oh, and you can probably get better HP #s out of that setup, 400hp is just a good starting point. But I guess you probably already knew that if you bought an STI. You are right though STI's suck, but we've all just been hiding it from you, hoping you would buy one and feel stupid about it. lol

Great story about the carwash. You might want to check out a VW GTI. Best daily driver I've ever had. They are NICE inside. Chip the engine and you get 250hp. Even without a chip, they are a lot of fun to drive, plenty of power, and smooth as buttah. Go test drive one (standard) and you'll see. They also have one of the best auto transmissions out there with launch control (that works better than I can do with stick) if you go that route.

Now if you want a monster, but not a gas guzzler, and don't mind the price tag or the looks, get a scoob STI. They are not nearly as nice as a GTI inside, and they kinda have the boy racer theme going on, but if you keep your foot out of it, it will get over 20mpg. Put your foot down and you get 0-60 in 4.5 sec. Try to find a non-turbo Porsche that can do that. Add Cobb access port and catback, you get 320hp (crank). Wanna get real crazy and spend some money, do a bigger turbo, forged pistons, bigger injectors, bigger intercooler, external waste gate, and 3" catback, you got around 400hp at the wheels to play with. That would be at all four of the wheels. Then you can have fun fucking with ferraris and lambos.

Get the hatch back and you can haul groceries back from the store like no one's business. (in the dirt, mud, rain, and I would say snow, but you don't get much of that in SA.)

I really like the VW GTI... but according to my mildly excentric cousin in CO... VWs see more shop time for mechanical failure than he cares to talk about. IIII have always been a fan of the little STI... One of my buddies back up North had one that he drove in the winters mainly.. That thing would flat track on an icy corner... it was absolutely insane. He was running bone stock but still... I may take a look at those in the end... If I can't find a little car that I like, Ill see if I can't find me an SVT raptor! haha!

I assume this is basically what you are talking about!

I'm not hating the car, just the fanboy. This is my thread so I'll participate in any conversation within it.

You made the wild claim about STi's whooping up on Ferraris and Lambos, and that's certainly not the case. You went down the road, I just followed you.

If you like your car, that's all that matters. But don't be so blinded by your loyalty that you can't admit that there are better cars out there.

Yeah, if you make a flat out race car out of it. Some crazy bastards are squeezing 600-700 hp and more out of them. I think Ken Blocks STI is like 550hp. Not sure how much time guys like that spend rebuilding engines though. Tons of STI vids out there. It's a lot of bang for the buck, but they are a little bit pricey at ~$35-40K. I will say this though, it's more powerful but not as responsive (smaller turbo in the GTI = less lag) and definitely not as smooth as the GTI. It's a great compromise between performance and utility. Kinda ugly though, I have to admit.

Clearly I am and STI fanboy blinded by my loyalty for the car. Why don't your work on you reading and comprehension skills a little bit and get back to me. No on second thought, don't. I'm not really interested.

They are pretty flippin grotesque...If I am going to go ugly... Maybe I will just get an old prius and drop a crate motor in it for shits and gigs.

Because I like the STI and think it's good car does not = blind fanboy

This from a guy who's panties are still crammed up his ass about breaking his STI the first time he drove it. Now he's mad at all the other STi drivers in the world and out to start shit with them. What's the matter? Drive as good as you read?

When they're misinformed and actively spreading their lies and ignorance then yes, I am out to start shit with them.

My reading comprehension is about as good as my driving skill. I race HPDE4 and w2w in SUO/TT with NASA-TX. Where did you learn to drive? Celebration Station? The simple fact that I can comprehend your posts is a testament to my excellent reading comprehension.

Because I the STI and think it's good car

For under $10k, I'd recommend a good ol' Murrican V8. Something like a Camaro/TransAm or a Mustang. It'll take care of the go-fast jonesing, and can turn a corner somewhat well. Imports are fun little cars and good all-around cars, but if you're into modifying then it takes quite a bit more money to get them competitive.

I bet you can find an SRT-4 or older STi for under $10k.
