Just today at the show in Dallas I sold a basic M4 style AR with A2 stock and handguards without BCG or mags for $1,750 cash. I didn't gouge anyone. I would have been stupid to sell it for any less. Do I feel bad? NO.

Shue is a hypocrite that wants to dictate what others do. Then he violates the rules here and calls me, in public, a jackass. He showed his true colors by sending me a PM criticizing me about my auction. He is welcome to ignore it, but he can FO if he thinks he is going to chastise me about ANYTHING.
Shue also fails to understand the market. All the BS about selling to friends is just that, B.S.. I suspect I have something he wants. Hey Shue, I forbid you to buy anything I sell. Also, stop sending me private messages. You will be reported.
I'm stopping now because this is going to get ugly.
Schue - I have a question for you. If you had a rifle that other people were selling for $2500, would you say "Hey fellas, I want to be a nice guy and sell it to you for half the going price."?
Or if you bought something 25 years ago, would you only sell it at the price you bought it for? If you sold it at current market price, would that then make you a gouger?
I completely understand free market.
And today, sellers understand who the target market is ... the panic buyer.
I would respectfully disagree. There are a lot of level headed younger first buyers. They just decided to buy, out of their own free will, at a bad point in the supply/demand ratio and they're ok with that. I wouldn't blanket call it panic. I completely understand their logic. If I wasn't all set with my toys, I could very easily be one of them, within a reasonable price range.
The only difference between 2 weeks ago and now is panic.I would respectfully disagree. There are a lot of level headed younger first buyers. I think the point is on both sides ... a seller jacking the price to an UNREAL market value or selling at REAL fair market value to trusted members here or a circle of friends.
I have sold to a couple long-time friends over the last couple weeks at prices I paid 6 months ago and did so because in casual conversation they told me they couldn't find any. I sold a CMMG lower and PSA upper "frankengun", PMags and 500 rounds of 556 to a buddy for $750 who had promised his son an AR for Christmas after returning from Iraq. Otherwise, he was looking at $3K.

There are clearly two POVs here. I respect those that want to cash in while they can and I would hope those that do, would respect my POV.
No one I saw today was panicked. Most people seemed pretty calm.
I was just hoping that TGT would remain "clean" during this storm. I truly think that this is the best gun forum on the Internet because the BS here is very minimal. I was really surprised when I saw these ridiculous prices from TGT core members. I have an AR for sale on other forums for current market prices, but I did not advertise it here because I would never "rip off" a TGT member. I guess I am old fashioned........
Paying $1500 for a DPMS or $40 for a pmag indicates panic. The only reason to pay that much is fear that in a few months you will be stuck with nothing. You say a lot of younger buyers coincidentally chose the past 2 weeks to get into firearms, but I don't buy it.
