Stopped by this shop again to check them out. Had not been in there for a year or so. Had been disappointed with customer service in previous visits but I was in area at lunch time and thought I'd stop in. Guess things don't change.

Shop wasn't very busy - maybe 3 other people in there. I walked around a bit - then went to counter to buy some scope rings (I could see what I wanted hanging on wall...price was decent). I stood there for over 15 minutes... nothing, nada. No "how ya doing" "be right with you" "can I help you?"... nothing. Several guys behind the counter walked right past me 4-5 times.

Only guy behind counter was helping a young lady who came in and wanted to rent a pistol for first time. Granted, she was attractive but come on... showing her how to operate the pistol again and again and again (all while stating "don't worry, the guys next door will show you all this") got a little old. Dude never even looked over at the three other customers standing and waiting for help.

After 15-20 of being ignored (literally with cash in my hand) I walked out and went to another store.

Some folks will complain because they ain't kissed at the door....My PERSONAL top-3 preferences:

    The Powderhorn
    Nagles
    Dury's
    The Bullet Hole

Bullet hole is a relatively new add for me - they've gone and started trying to keep some guns on hand, and I hadn't realized it until lately. They're going to increase it once they get into their new building.

Most gun stores in SA suck. Hate to say that, but it's the truth. And Texas Guns is pretty much on top of the suck list!

True dat. Their prices have always been terrible.

Went in yesterday and they had a few Glocks for $650, a few AKs for $1500... good to see they didn't raise their prices during this crises! :p

During NORMAL circumstances, the SAXET and Premier gun shows are the best places to find deals on firearms, ammo and accessories. I have bought several guns from AJC Sports out of Klute at the SAXET show. There are several vendors that I've gotten to know who will "negotiate" with me on firearms.

I go by the Powderhorn on a regular basis but have never bought a firearm from there. I've never seen a decent enough deal there to cause me to pull the trigger so to speak. Their prices are probably better than most of the other shops in the city, but still nowhere near as good as the shows.

Personally I've gotten better deals at Academy than I have at local gun stores...

I never understood these small local shops with crappy service and high prices. If I'm gonna pay a premium at your little shop, you've better be dang good at what you do... There is this little shop in houston that I'd go to, they had a cussing parrot and I could spend time in there like a barber shop. I'm not sure they're the greatest. They never followed up on a gun I was looking for. But to this day, I regret not buying what they were offering me. I just didn't realize at the time, but I'm still looking for the lightweight cco colt.
