Last time I saw the Governor in Austin, I hollered "Hello Governor."

He shot back immediately with "Howdy, Dammit!"

Perry might be awkward on the National Stage, but he earned his spurs right here in Texas and as an Air Force Transport Pilot.
My Dad used to fly with Perry, he has some old slides of rick in his flight suite playing cards.

I sent Rick an email a while back and he sent me a hand signed letter in return addressing each thing I asked about. It wasn't even about anything major or in the news and he still took time to get back to me. He's got my respect.

Sent from Hicksville.....or while dreaming of Hicksville

    I'm gonna use that.

You realize "Howdy dammit" is an Aggie saying and he is an Aggie right? Its a good saying, just figured Id expound on the saying.

I do think its funny as hell he responded that way. Hes alright in my book, I really hope Greg Abbott doesnt run against him. I like them both right where they are.

He's not perfect, and I know he's done some unpopular things, but he's alright overall in my book ... Even if he is an Aggie ...

I didn't realize that. But it's funny, even if he is an Aggie. Thanks for the background on it though. Learn something new every day. Haven't been around much Aggies. All my friends knew better ;)

Nicely done Gov. I'll agree with others, he's done some things I disagree with but overall I've been very pleased with him as my Governor.

    Hey shorts,
All the Aggies I know say HOWDY and are gentlemen, for the most part. Being one myself I should know. Like all of us Aggies, Rick Perry bleeds maroon and white. Sure beats the heck out of those liberal tea sippers in austin. I haven't agreed with everything Rick has wanted to do but look at the alternatives. You want Ann Richards back?????

I think that goes for most men in Texas. It's one of the things that makes it a pleasure being a Texas lady. Intrastate rivalries add to the tradition. Ultimately we're all staunch Texans. Don't read into my joking about Aggies that I'm pro UT. Even though I am a UT system product, we're adopted red-headed step children that don't really count - UTSA.

^because unfortunately not everyone in TX is as like minded as us and would not approve of him using their collective taxpayer money for personal use, no matter how minimal.

Let's see, would I like a governor that can shoot or one who wants to ban shooting? Perry or Cuomo?

A governor that supports 2A or one that thinks it should only apply to a few elite?

    Hard decisions here.

    Hah right?

Considering what other leaders are doing to their states, I'm pretty darn happy Perry enjoys guns and takes "our side".

I meet a bunch of Texans who loathe Rick Perry... As an outsider, I saw a flourishing economy in Texas... My in laws who live in San Antonio couldn't understand why my company was instituting long term furloughs (2 years in my case).

When I was offered the opportunity to transfer to Texas, I took it without a second thought.

I lime Perry. I voted for him in the primaries in Iowa.

This makes me like him more.

He has done some sneaky stuff and made some decisions that trampled folks pretty good. One decision of his I completely disagreed with was his HPV vaccination mandate.

I like Perry. I'm not saying he's the smartest grape on the vine but he's better for Texas that a lot we've had in the past. I think he's misinformed quite often and just "doesn't get it" regarding the significance of his decisions. Looking back at the recent history of our state's supreme leaders (sarcasm) I'd take Perry over the rest.
