So yesterday I wrote a really long post on home defense but it disappeared. So I'll try again, but less is more.
If your plan is grab my gun stop the bad guy, you need a new plan.
All of us know our homes but have you gone through your home with your go to gun finding all the places possible bad guys could be waiting?
Make sure to practice light control, changing your height, checking corners. Practice ascending and descending stairs if you have them. Make sure your spouse and kids know the plan so they don't freak out or worse put themselves in danger.
Run your plan so you can find flaws and become more confident. Get a buddy and some nerf guns and have him try to outsmart you. Use cover and concealment. Do jumping jacks or push ups to get your heart rate up, then run your plan.
I wanted to share this because this is something none of us can get wrong. LEO's and MIL guys train on this stuff for a reason and responsible gun owners can't just expect to pick up a gun and get it perfect without practice.
You will fall to your lowest level of training. The flat range is good but alone it can not fully prepare you to defend your home.
If you haven't watched the Legally Concealed YouTube channel I highly recommend it. He has great advice and tutorials.
Stay safe, fight to win.
