I have NO tattoos. I worked in the Texas prison system for a couple of years and almost every one of the incarcerated felons had skin art. What keeps echoing in my head when the subject of skin art comes up........"DO I WANT TO LOOK LIKE ONE OF THOSE OFFENDERS?"

    None for me, thanks.

Things are changing its not 1950 anymore tattoos have become acceptable in the work place as long as they aren't something crazy like a goat fucking a chicken on your forehead

Red is right. they generally are not accepted. i saw a girl wearing a spandex sleeve last week at wendy's. . Being a smart ass, i asked her if she was an NBA star. turns out she was covering up tatoos.

You boys are a little slow. The OP was a pic of a guy. It was a joke. .

I don't like tats personally, but I've worked with an old Marine who served in Korea and Vietnam, and he had a super warped tattoo from the years of aging, but it still looked badass. Guy was super nice and cool but those old military themed tats sure added character. I never got a good look at it but it appeared to be a bulldog or pug or something, I don't know my dogs. I believe it was probably a reference to Devil Dogs.

I hope the tatted fellow either a) helped design the XDs or b) it saved his life.

    Otherwise, bad tat IMO

As for women with tats, my wife (MBA, financial analyst at an international company) with two tats and likely to get a third would have to agree that it is a generational thing. Keep em concealed and there is no problem getting a job.

I find the cursing and frothing mouths interesting over a stated observation that was not accompanied by any personal opinion/comment. Like I said - do whatever floats your boat, guys. But if you want to get a good job in most companies, the tat is one way to lessen your chances.

And I know I'm an old geezer, not keeping up with the times, etc. - because after all, tats are MUCH more acceptable today than they were back in my day, right.

Well, skooter - here's a news flash for ya.......that's EXACTLY what they were saying in MY day.........so, I hope ya'll got all the venom outta your systems, because some of you really need anger management when you explode like that over someone making business-based observations.

How does a tattoo on the back affect anyone from getting a professional job? What professional jobs require one to take their clothes off? Your missing the point TR. everyone agrees that if you have face and neck tats that it could be a problem. If you wear a suit all day for a business/office job how would anyone know if you have tattoos if they are not visible?

The tattoo argument is old, you don't like them fine that's your opinion, you think the majority of people who have them can't get the job done? You're fucking delusional, 90% of the military is covered in tattoos and I dare a single one of you to say the infantry is less effective because of some drunken skin art.

Back on topic horrible tattoo if its real but hey that's just my opinion

as the father of two kids with combat experience- one with tats and one without - i can tell you that infantry operations are not the same thing as a corporate office environment

find another comparison because the infantry one doesnt work

There doesn't need to be a comparison. Nobody would know if someone had a tattoo in an office environment unless they say they had one.

I've got several and none of my students ever see them. Some of my coworkers have seen them at barbecues, but they don't really come up in conversation at work.

I think the key phrase there is, "keep em concealed." If you are in an office, its very different from being on the battlefield, the oilfield or a construction site.

In those places they are embraced. I've been on both sides. I worked construction for a decade before I became "a professional" type. Nobody wants to see a sleeve tat on their insurance agent, CPA, stock broker, etc. and in those worlds, lots of people own tats, and keep them covered. It's a mostly unspoken rule.

I don't have one, but my brother had several (Navy guy), and most of my kids have one. And it doesn't matter to me if people have them. But in the business world, it matters.

So feel persecuted if you want, but its unlikely to change any time soon. And the gun owner comparison is way off. Not sure what the stats are, (and I bet those stats are unavailable) but I would guess there are more gun owners without tats, then ones with tats. Not that it matters a hill of beans.

    Love always,

    Just another hypocrite

Again - the point is missed.....maybe because rather than understand "where I'm coming from", assumptions are being made.....the same assumptions I'm being accused of making.

Tats that can't be seen aren't the issue. What seems to happen, however, is that one begets another - and suddenly, they ARE visible. THAT is my point - select with care. But again - you're certainly free to do as you wish. I didn't realize that having an unpopular opinion could cause so many folks to get so adversarial......I feel like a gun owner at a DNC meeting.
