You can find a shitload of opinions on cleaning cans. I have atleast 5K through my sparrow and not cleaned yet. It actually does not look bad at all.

Wow, to hear guys talk about it sounded like they had to clean every few mags. Speaking of that though, why not shoot the copper jacketed 22LR rounds instead of the bare lead?

What 22 pistol or 22 rifle do you all suggest or recommend?

I planned on using an M&P 22 pistol, but was not too sure about what rifle to go with. Also, perhaps you can recommend some of the smaller 22 pistols that would be good too, like the Sig Mosquito or the small Ruger polymer one. Regarding that are the Ruger Mark pistols still popular for suppressors or less so due to the other newer offerings? I like the Ruger Mark Lite pistol but didn't know how it would go with a suppressor vs the metal framed ones.

I thought of starting a new topic, but i'll post here to keep the thread running and not clog up the subforum.

What threaded barrels for 9/40/45 do you recommend?

Regarding rifles, particularly ARs, is the piston setup really needed or just nice to have? How about carbine length vs mid length gas systems? Considering 300 blackout and 6.8 SPC along with 556 of course.

If any of you have a great resource for suppressor information to direct me to that would be cool too. I have lots of questions.

I like the lightest option available, mainly because you're putting an extra few ounces on the front with the can, and .22 has so little recoil. I have a Ruger MK II and a 22/45 MK II and I bought a 4.5" Pac Lite barrel to sit on top. The extra weight of the metal framed MK II isn't a deal breaker, but I prefer the polymer 22/45 grip frame because the whole package is so light.

As for a rifle, it's a contest between the Smith 15-22 and Savage FV SR as to which is my favorite. Both are factory threaded.

I have learned a pretty good amount about suppressors recently.

My primary gun interest is shooting defensive handguns. I liked the idea of getting a 45 suppressor for all my pistol needs however I am also considering getting a 22 suppressor first as I can use it on rifles and pistols and it will be much quieter.

What do you suggest for a first suppressor? 22 or centerfire pistol and which make and model do you suggest.

I posted a similar topic about 6 months ago but have since narrowed it down some.

I had the Silencerco ss sparrow recommended to me for the 22 suppressor and the Silencerco Osprey for centerfire pistols and 300 blackout.

I have both of these & like them just fine....

Does the paperwork on subsequent suppressors get approved faster than the trust and the initial one?

NO. And no matter how many times you go through the process, you always have to send in a copy of your trust with every new form 4/1. If they keep every copy I have sent them, my file should be about the size of a phone book now...

Ah, didn't realize that. Thought they kept a copy of the trust and I just had to send in the form. Silencer Shop has been very helpful with the process.

I can't decide between a 22 or 45 though. I do think I'd enjoy the 22 more, but the 45 would be nice for home defense.

Dave at Silencer Shop is awesome. Very helpful.

Well you'll need both. You just gotta decide which to get first. I say go for the .22, then circle back around in a few months and get the .45/centerfire pistol can.

Yeah, when I first started sending stuff off (first 5 stamps or so) I was sending two copies of my trust, one with each form 4/1 (you have to send duplicate signed form 4/1's for every stamp - but you only need to send 1 copy of your trust) So they probably have 15 copies of it by now. It's about 20 pages long, so... that's about 300 pages. I hope they have a good stout file cabinet. LOL

I plan to get one that will work on both the 22 and AR, his or bad idea?

I have a 10/22 takedown w the threaded barrel, can I buy just any supr?

Is there like a universal mount I can put on for both the 22 and AR?

sent from my cell phone, far far away

I would say if you can afford a center fire can first, then do so. A take apart can such as my 45 Ti-Rant can be used on my 22 pistols as well. Still pretty quiet but not as quiet as my subsequent Specter 2. For 22 pistols I love my ruger Mk3 with the pac-lite upper. Stay under 5-6 inches for barrel length and you can shoot High velocity ammo and it will still stay subsonic. I will at rare times get a sonic crack but mostly not. My favorite 22 rifle suppressed is my smith 15/22.
