I've been thinking about how people are moving to Texas from failed states (California, Illinois) and bringing that failed state socialist mentality with them.
Then I got thinking about the legality of states controlling their own borders more.
Part two of the question. Why not?

Wouldn't you be one of the first to pitch a fit if some state tried to outlaw, ban or control free passage into or out of that state? Checkpoints within the country; "your papers please"

Anyone dumb enough to leave Texas deserves what they get.

Not per se, but they do have the right to tax. I'm sure it would end up at the SC, but what if the State imposed a $1500.00 tax on DL license processing for converting out of state DL's, a $2500.00 tax for registering a vehicle from out of state, etc. etc.
The Feds have no control over State taxing authority..... and if the State wants to waive the fee for some, well isn't that what Bama is doing with ACA?
