I like pocket carry for the reason of being able to slip a hand into a pocket and have the gun ready to go if things start looking hinky. The LCP and the .32 Kel-Tec are the few truly small pocket pistols around. That's the only reason I gave the LCP consideration.

Same here. I have a .32 Kel-Tec with a laser and a Taurus TCP for pocket carry in Jeans. Kahr CM9 for pocket carry in cargo pants. My bigger guns which tend to weigh 30oz require an IWB/OWB holster.

    cb51,

    AGREED.

According to a study done by ther MI State Police some years ago, even the shootouts between criminals & police, where ANYBODY GOT HURT, was less than SEVEN METERS (about 21 FEET).

I also agree tried out the Ruger LCP and bought a Ruger LC for my wife and she at the range has three inch groups after firing a magazine of .380. A lot of research into the load and the rounds she has in it will stop someone just as well as a 9mm taking in penetration and expansion.

That said I carry a SAR K2 in .45 ACP then again I am 6'4" and have a 52" chest and also have a light weight jacket with a built in holster which has a panel which keeps it from printing. Also carrying under a couple of really loose shirts.

My wife mostly uses the LC for when she goes for walks around the lake because we have had issues with feral dogs in this neighborhood. My one comment is to practice with your carry ammo, she said that the recoil was a little different with the defense rounds versus just practice ammo.

Ya know, I don't know why I even started this post, just curious abut the little .380 Ruger. But for most of the 50 years I've beens shooting, I have always used and carried a revolver. There's been a few semis come and go, mostly always go after I've played with them, but I'm most comfortable with he revolver. I've carried my NAA .22's for over 30 years, and my S&W 317 has been a steady carry gun. I may as well stay with the J frame platform since it's been my most own, carried and shot guns.

How do I close this thread?

Well armed is a misnomer. I have AR's stashed around the house. One in the trunk. The Glock 42 stays on me or next to the bed. The girlfriend has a s&w shield. I don't know why but I've owned more Colt double actions then the Smiths. Detective Special would be the $hit....but Lord they're expensive. So it's the Smith..this time.

Nobody is well armed with a pistol. They are just useful for buying time until you can arm yourself properly.

    Younggun,

AGREED 100%. = In an emergency, I would reach for my trusty 12-gauge pump shotgun, if I have a choice.
(I'm also armed 24/365 with my S&W Shield but prefer a shotgun/buckshot for dealing with 2-footed/4-footed predators, who intend to cause us harm.)

Note: I've actually had to kill exactly ONE predator in my lifetime (a LARGE, VICIOUS, about 100# stray dog on our family farm) & was glad that I had ready access to my pump-gun.

Awwww, man! Couldn't you have just cocked your hammer at him? ;)

Fwiw, I did cock the hammer. = Ex-CCSO (WWI surplus) 1897 Winchester riot-gun, that I bought for "peanuts" about 5 decades ago. - IF I remember correctly, I paid 35 bucks for it.

That is really tired and untrue. If some asshole attacks me I have to plan on getting back to my rifle at my house to properly defend myself?

If I shoot you in the face with my handgun I'd say I was pretty well armed. The adage you state may be accurate in a military situation, but in most self-defense and even LE scenarios what you have with you is what you get.
