I think high end optics like Aimpoint are wonderful, but I can't justify the cost as I've learned my lesson about such high end optics.

An Aimpoint or other high end are so very costly that are in many cases provide more clarity, but not 'that' much more.

As an example: Over 20 years ago, I bought a pair of Leica 10 X 42 Trinovid binoculars. Heavy, but wonderful clarity. Simultaneously, I bought a pair of Nikon 10 X50 binos as loaners.

The Nikons while not as clear, were 'almost as clear' (I'd guess 90% or so as clear if not more...) as the Leicas, plus rugged, stayed aligned and still function to this day flawlessly.

Leicas cost (remember over 20 years ago) were $1250.00

    Nikons cost $120.00

That is fine. When I outfit a rifle/carbine - I will admit that I am not in the military. But, I do it with the idea that it may have to save my life one day. I want milspec stuff. That Sig Romeo was my 1st attempt to go cheaper, and I thought it really sucked. After that experience, I went back to the higher end optics.

Before the whole Eotech mess years ago, I've had several of those. I've also previously owned 6 Mepro 21 reflex sights - It's basically a 1/2 pound block of aluminum, and it is the official optic of the Israel military.

This Aimpoint is my 1st one of that brand. I do kinda wish I had bout the T1 instead of the H1, but I know a lot more about them now compared to when I got it 2 years ago.

But, I understand that cost can be a factor for many people. I hear ya. If you are satisfied, that is all that matters

I have both the H-1 and T-1. Because I am not a NAVY SEAL and don’t currently run Night Vision there is no difference in performance for me. You chose well and saved a few bucks. Lol

No - it's not that. There is a parallax issue on the H1 that the T1 doesn't suffer from. I've read a lot about it.

If your face is not at the same position as when you zero the gun - it can be a little off if you use the optic from a different position. The H1 apparently has more of an issue with that. It was a little disappointing to find out. There was a huge thread on Ar15.com a while back, with some detailed testing.

Has not been my experience. Might it have been differences in the H1/T1 vs H2/T2?

I'm digging my Romeo 5. I think Palmetto State Armory has them on sale for $129.99
I have a few of them, going to grab two more. They have served me well and the auto-on/auto-off feature is nice. I've run 5 carbine matches with one on an AR, another is on a .300 BLK, plus countless trips to the range. I like them, and for $129 at Palmeto right now, the price is really right.

Vortex or the Sig gets my vote.
If your trying to keep cost down the Bushnell TRS25 is a pretty good deal, the the price of the Romeo 5 @ PSA is a good deal...almost got one the other day
I have one of those Bushnells, it just got replaced with a Romeo 5. The parallax on the Bushnell seemed rather extreme to me, but it's otherwise worked well. Never had it stop functioning, like those expensive TRO's seem to do.

No, it was specifically the H1. Some training class wouldn't even allow the optic to be used - just the one particular model.

It was all talked about a year ago or so....

I did notice that when I zeroed my PS90 with the H1 on sandbags - with me looking thru the gun from the rear... And then I rested it on the bag but shouldered it - I had to rezero the gun.

When I did this with an Eotech years ago, I didn't have this problem. The PS90 has such light recoil that I have done this to zero a laser before.

Anyway, the gun is meant to be shouldered anyway - so, once I rezeoed it, it is fine. But, I wondered why I had this difference... Then, after reading this about the H1, it made sense.

The T1 apparently doesn't have this issue

Hadn’t heard about it until now. I’ll read up thanks.

Just found out the Sparc II has been discontinued so if you're interested, get one now. I like it because it comes with several mounting height options. On an AR I can do a 1/3 co-witness or an absolute co-witness. The low profile mount sits perfectly on my 10/22.

I prefer the Romeo 5 of that batch you listed.

I’ve become much more in favor of the reflex style sights like the Delta Point and RMR, with the RMR being my favorite.

I just bought a used EOTech L3 today... oh boy... I think I might be spending a lot more on reflex sites like the EOTech in the future. Of the ones in the $100-$200 in that list.. I sill like the Romeo5 best.

I thought about it some more. It's been a while since I read all those parallax issues with the H1 and T1. I think it may be the T2 model that eliminates this issues

I have a few primary arms micro dots that are years old and have gone from .308 to .22LR with zero issues and on the same batteries. Friends are running HoloSun 403 and 503c's with zero issues. SIG sites look a lot like HoloSun sites with different housings on them. So if it was between just those two I would go with the cheaper option at the time.

Love reflex sites. Sold my Eotechs on the rifle's they lived on and regret it. I just cant eat the 500+ dollars right now to replace them. Another option for reflex right now are the old school Trijicons RX06 and 30 or the newer HoloSun 510C.

Vortex has something called the AMG they have been selling for a little while. Supposed to be a pretty rugged Reflex, and I think the price seemed reasonable (maybe I'm recalling incorrectly). I'll look into those Trijicon models. I head you on the price... when one was danged in fromt of me for $320, I had to lay down the cash.. even though I'd told myself "No Gun Show Pruchases; just looking today". yeah... right...

I use both the vortex and the holosun. Both are great in my humble opinion. The vortex warranty is hard to beat. My vote leans to vortex

    Aimpoint.

    Everything else is just “ok”

Mine has been through hell, and is still perfectly accurate. Batteries seem to last forever.

The model I have is now discontinued, but I stand by my assessment that they’re tough, and reliable.

I’ve used EOTech, Vortex, Leupold and a couple others.

I agree. IF it is to be used for self defense, I would not want some cheapy optic. Sorry.
