"The wisest action is often to escape from the scene asap."

Yeah, but such action will be condemned by the "I'd take care of that bad man "crowd ".

At least your alive to face that condemnation.

It all depends on the situation. Without a full understanding of the situation, it can get you killed. Now certainly, if I saw a shooter walking up to shoot someone defenseless, it would be hard to live with myself to just let it happen.

And an example where two separate LTC holders respond, not knowing about each other.

While it turned out well, it should be educational.

All I will say is I will not be killed hiding and chanting god make me a stone. I am not prey.

Beyond that my actions would depend on the situation and my priorities and loved ones. My family knows if they hear gunshot they go out the nearest exit away from the gunfire. School walmart what ever, get out of the kill zone.

It seems to me that most posts here favor staying out of it, while others say engage. For me I really do not know how I would react. I have never been in a situation as described. I do not know if I would stay and fight or take flight. It is easy to sit at my keyboard and do scenarios, but in real life, who knows. Just my pieve on this, not denigrating anyone.

It seems to me that most posts here favor staying out of it, ...

Which is really interesting given the pro-gun mantra over the last several years about how, "If there was just one person there with a gun, they could have stopped it." However, we now know that most people there, if they had a gun, would be doing their best to run away with the unarmed people.

Yep. I think there is a mental aspect about it to which may lead to that decision. Strapping on a gun, getting your LTC, and going to the range where you out shoot your local LEOs (because they can't shoot worth a damn) is one thing, engaging a murderer is another. Now tactics become paramount to shooting a bullseye and most don't practice this. I get it, most have wife, kids, family and really, who wants to die in a gunfight? IF you carry on a regular basis, you do so for SD and look, an AS is a SD situation. It is just the decent thing to do as a human IF you can do so. Now IF you are right by an exit door, take it.

Right. Most people don't carry a gun to be a hero or to increase the chances of being killed by confronting bad guys. They carry a gun to defend themselves if they have to do so and only as a last resort. That is reality and there is nothing wrong it, save for it not fitting not fitting the agenda'd party line.

It's not all cut and dried like that. Seeing what is unfolding is different from hearing what has unfolded. My reaction could be different if I witness what is happening, as opposed to being in an area where I only hear shots fired and people screaming.

If a gun man is shooting YOU, or is near enough that he is an immediate threat, then shoot back

Not exactly an earth shattering concept.

No one has suggested running away from someone actually shooting them

No one is going to walk away from such a situation in front of them. The response rests with the details. Location people family etc. You better have your head fully out of your ars and make good decisions cause you wont be the only one running there.

Peg board, what All walmart shelves backing is made of isnt even concealment. How do you think store security catches shoplifters? They watch thru the peg board. I did it for years. You cant stop them if you dont keep constant eyes on them and cameras ain't that if your working alone.

Rifle round sail thru peg board. Cover it aint. This said walmart interior walls separating stock rooms from sales floors are partially grouted block and generally connected. Use that as you will. Older stores can be a maze of multiple storied disjointed and unconnected so useing them for access can be detrimental if your want to move behind people safely.

    Good decisions.

One thing to remember.....for every opportunity you make to shoot the murderer, the murderer has the same opportunity to shoot you.

Personally, if I can keep those odds at or near 0%, I'll do that.

Right, preservationally sound logic, but contrary to a lot of the chest thumping by the gun community over the last several years about how CCW people are going to be causing a decline of crime and mass shootings.

Rates of crime, including mass shootings don't change because of citizens with guns. Some of the individual crimes may be influenced by citizens with guns (which is good), but criminals really aren't that fearful of citizens with guns. They may not like to encounter them, but it doesn't stop them from doing bad things. Every time one robs a store or person, does a home invasion, tries to carjack somebody, they know there is a chance of running into a person with a gun who might be able to bring themselves to using it. They also know that they have an exceeding good possibility of getting away with their crime unharmed.

So are you discounting the stories of a good guy with a gun? The last statistic I saw there were more good guy with a gun incidences then there have been mass shootings.

Actually, crime rates have fallen where concealed carry has become more common.

It would seem so. I'd want to escape from the store too, but I dunno if I could live with myself knowing I left the store leaving dozens of people to die and dozens more to get hurt despite the fact that I'm armed and probably one of the only people there that could've done something about it.
True... But what if you get smoked and say you have 3 little kids at home that relied on you. They will not appreciate your efforts.
