Well, I cannot say it is "nice" to see another earthling being put to death but it is evidently being done deservedly so; thus, it is right and just - as it should be when anyone is murdered.

I hate to be callous...but all this makes me think of is the HPD debauchery that led to the death of the Tuttles last year. I once believed in the justice system, but my faith has greatly dwindled when I try to imagine that we as citizens are all treated equally in the system.

Treated equally ain't about to happen because as a wise man once wrote:

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

Frigging disgusting and needs to be changed to where every life is as valued as the next, and every person treated equally under the law with no exceptions.

On the courthouse lawn at noon. Open to the public. Family members of the deceased can pull the handle.

    avvidclif,

Frankly, I don't have a "strong feeling" (one way or the other) about "public hanging" BUT do support the execution being IN the county where the crime occurred & within 60 days of pronouncement of sentence.
(Even my little & very rural home county could easily afford to construct a perfectly serviceable gallows.)

I would also support a family member being the executioner, IF they wish.

If the justice system were perfect I'd agree with ya. But there are too many mistakes and outright bad dealings going on to do it so quickly.

I will add that ANY public servant that hides evidence that would provide support for the defense, or outright lies to obtain a conviction, should be subject to the immediate death penalty.

I hear they mess their trousers

    Frank59,

FYI, I've been present when numerous people expired, when I worked in a hospital, drove for a funeral home & also as a LEO.
Virtually all of victims, in each case, involuntarily urinate & defecate when they pass away, from any number of causes from gunshot wound, various suicides & fatal car accidents, as the anal sphincter relaxes..

Fwiw, virtually all death-watch corrections officers/prisons have the condemned person don a pair of rubber pants and/or an "adult diaper" about a half-hour before the execution, to prevent "a smelly mess"..

    TheMailMan,

Fyi, I once interviewed the long-serving chaplain for LDC (for our school quarterly magazine). The chaplain said that he had been present & WITH any number of condemned inmates up until they expired.
(The Pastor said that, "ALL of the men & women, who I was with in their last hours, ADMITTED their guilt, except for one convict in the late '50s", who stated that he had NOT killed the man that he was sentenced to death for murdering. He told me that, "It's OK. I killed the blond woman, that was out at the pumps. My brother killed the Mexican fellow.")

The two brothers had robbed a service station up in north LA. During the armed robbery, the brothers murdered the attendant & a female customer, who was buying gasoline. = Both were executed about a week apart at Angola Prison Farm.

What I deeply RESENT is convicted/condemned convicts DYING of natural causes on Death Row after 10/15/20/30 years, as a direct result of endless, needless, worthless appeals by "do-gooders" & shyster lawyers, when the convict's guilt is CERTAIN & even when the "anti- death penalty" advocate's "help" is REFUSED by the convict.
(For example, a condemned inmate in CA once died of old age 31 years after his supposedly "final appeal" was exhausted. The convict had ADMITTED AT TRIAL that he raped & murdered the 2 women that he was convicted/sentenced, to death by lethal gas, for raping/murdering.)
