    Gunz are icky.
Dammit, did they give a reason?
    No sales receipt they said.
When I purchased the gun the dealer had to order the gun so the sales receipt just had a generic item paid on it.
When the gun came only then did I get the invoice/serial number/info. The shop even gave me the invoice from them to the distributor.
All that plus photo of the box label.
Holy fluck what else do they need?
I’ve heard they’re difficult on paying the rebate.

Dang. Just getting caught up here. Were it I, the blasted thing would have been sent back to S&W out of lack of skill and experience, and just plain principle. I don't know about any rebate denials (which seems crazy if one was offered), but I had an extractor break after about 15 years and 20,000 rounds, sent it back to them and got the gun back clean and repaired - no charge. I haven't purchased a new S&W revolver since the .38 Bodyguard was released so I don't know about newer production model performance. I do know if guys like @Moonpie are throwing up their hands as a result of quality issues, the move to TN needs to be eyeballed closely for meeting print and performance specifications.

@Moonpie - was this one made in TN?

I got my 617 6" over 15 years ago before reading up on horror stories of the newer S&W qc. Luckily it's been great so far along with the 629pc I got with it. Probably 5k through the 617 and 500 on the 629.

    S&W can go fluck themselves.
The rebate denial is utter nonsense. I've heard they're being very very picky about paying it back.
Oh well. They have lost a looooong time customer. No more new S&W for me.
From here on out it will be older guns.

FWIW, this M648 is marked Springfield, Mass.

Isn’t it crazy how something like that can just really stick in your craw? I have a similar issue with BMW’s. The last straw is the last straw. What a shame.
