So a fifteen yr old 8th grader brought a pellet pistol to school yesterday in Brownsville. And what do you think happened? Yes, exactly that. He got his ass shot.

According to the article, the kid was ignoring police instruction and pointing the pistol at the officers. Police took him down with three shots.

There is of course the usual public outcry against the police brutality. At least the chief is backing his officers.

In my mind, this kid was either really that stupid (see 15 yr old 8th grader), or this was suicide by cop.

Three wounds. One reported to be in the back of the head. We weren't there, and don't know what went down, but I'm afraid the left is going to have a field day with this.

A CO2 powered pellet pistol is a weapon, albeit not as lethal as a .22, but it can harm someone if they are shot with it. The pictures I saw of it show it to look like a current model of handgun. The police had no choice but to fire when it was pointed at them. The kid screwed up.

I'm going to wait for details. I recall too well the Wal-Mart parking lot shooting in Las Vegas, where those Las Vegas cops killed a man lawfully carrying. Those police would say that was "solid police work" as well. We need to wait for the facts. Sometimes it's the kid's fault; sometimes it's the police's fault; sometimes it's just a bad, bad day.

Doesn't matter to me. At the end of the day this dipshit kid brought a weapon to school. A weapon that resembles commonly sold pistols everywhere. The police did the right thing when a gun was pointed at them. With all the school shootings that have happened in the past they not only had to take their safety into consideration but the safety of the students at the school.

Any 15 year old in middle school walking around with a pellet gun or any kind of gun is asking for trouble.

Kids points gun at police after being told to drop it. It IS solid police work....I looked around briefly but havent seen any outcry yet.

I feel for the kid's family and the officer as well who had to pull the trigger, but it is what it is.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to jump to the same conclusion as others.
While new information may emerge later (probably not likely!), I say any idiot, regardless of age that points a weapon or REPLICA of a weapon at the police, or ANYone else deserves whatever response is dealt to him!
If it's lethal, then that's what happens.
It he's tackled and gets bones and shit broken, so be it!

Too much lack of personal responsibility and accountability these days!

And if the cops did something wrong, then that'll come out, and they'll pay for it. But until I hear otherwise, I'm going to "back the badge" on this one.

News reports I saw and read indicated the 15 year old EIGHT GRADER had a RIFLE that later turned out to be a pellet gun.

Tragic for the officers and the Teens family. However, the police are under no obligation to only assume a gun fires real bullet if they inspect it first.

I had a kid point what looked like a real pistol at me in Bosnia, I was in an open HMMWV (no doors) I was driving. The kid came up with his hands behind his back, brought the pistol out and up when he was literally a meter or two away from me, then pulled the trigger and it went 'click, click, click' while pointed straight at my chest. It honestly took me a second or two to comprehend what he was doing, but the two lieutenants I had riding with me about shit themselves. I laughed about it at first, then it bothered me. I had a one-year-old son back in Germany with my wife, had it been a real gun or loaded if it were, there was nothing I would have been dead.

What also bothered me badly is that commonly we had armed escorts with us, HMMWVs with manned .50s on top. Had one been with us, most likely the kid would have been lit up for doing what he did. There was no way anyone could tell if it was a real weapon or not.

The police here did their job, the kid was either an idiot or suicidal. Just because he is 15 doesn't mean he's a child, my son is a year younger than him and is as tall as me. He is also a pretty damn good shot, and has fired several FA rifles in his life.

My condolences to the kid's family and the police who had to deal with this stupidity, but the officer(s) that shot him did nothing wrong that I can see. I hope the investigation concludes the same...

    Cheers! M2

Another thing to keep in mind is that the cartel's do use kids around that age as hired guns. Being that close to the border it could have easily been a cartel kid.

So far with the information I have seen it looks like a clean shoot. From other articles apparently the school was locked down, kids were locked in their classrooms and the cops were confronting the kid in a hallway. After being told repeatedly to drop it (verified by other students who heard the cops shouting this) they opened up on him and hit him 3 times (I would like to know how many shots were fired total). In a different article, the mother said the police did the right thing and actually understood why they shot her son. I would like to see a picture of the actual weapon though, to make sure it was a complete look alike. But I do understand that the cops had to take no chances, especially when other kids are involved. The kid reportedly got in a fight just before he pulled out the weapon as well, in another story it reports him as punching a kid in the face.

if you watch that first video posted at 32 seconds the girl in the picture with him has a gun... i think it was more of a case of the kid trying to be a bad ass or thinking hes a gangster
