Ye of little faith! Vaq and I called it back in posts 18 & 20. The many small red counties bailed us out yet once again. But with population shifts, this is not going to last forever, and may not even make it to 2020. This was way too close for Cruz!

I was glad to see that the smaller counties pulled it out for Florida also, but that isn't going to last either for the same reason, population shifts.

    Follow the money.
The O'Rourke campaign brought in more money than they could spend.
The unspent funds will be passed around to different PACs and politicians.
They won't be able to process it all legally. After all they are democrats.
Some interesting folks may get caught up.

Here in FL, Republicans won for Governor and Senate too.

The voting map is pretty interesting.

Harris county voted more conservative than Tarrant county and only slightly more liberal than Bexar county.

    On another note:
I wonder what the odds are we could get some kind of campaign finance reform to keep or limit outside money in state and local elections.

Way too close. Next time we are going to lose.
Just talking heads saying that are actual people?
I think the Senate raise was close because some butt-hurt Trump fans didn't support him. In other Statewide elections Republicans did much better. In those other races people voted R. I think it comes down to personal dislike of Cruz. How else do you explain a statewide red wave sans Cruz?

Similar situation, the dim for gov raised $100 million.

It is only a matter of time until both Florida and Texas go blue. If someone can't see this they are blind. Makes me glad I am old but you younger folks are going to have to live with it.
Texas, for now, is more red than I thought.

I agree that eventually the demographics will change that if we don't fix immigration or take away voting rights from net takers.

I think Florida will go before we do.

You are assuming that anyone in the government will care to investigate.

I'm not in favor of any campaign finance reform, even when it would help us. Americans should be free to spend their money as they choose. If Apple wants to give Beaten a billion dollars I'm fine with it.

Not a blue wave by any means, but we probably will lose the house. The senate is firmly ours though.
And that brings up a key distinction the GOP needs to wrap their head around. Cities will vote left and if they want to win in the future, they need to change that. They are losing the hearts and minds of urban Americans and there are several reasons for that.

Agreed, the big cities are populated with liberals. The scary part was the motivation factor the Democrats garnered. Unfortunately, I know of several Republican family members who were too lazy to vote and believed Beto didn't have a chance. If the Republican party could have motivated similar then it would have been a double digit loss for Beto.
