Anyone know a Gun smith that specializes or is really experienced in these? I need an "Expert" opinion on condition and operability. Is it safe to shoot, or just a collectors item. Thanks

What are you askin' about?? M1, Ruger Blackhawk, etc.? Some are OK and some are not. Is it a particular one you have or considering purchasing? I'd go to a gunsmith with it if I was serious about a purchase.

I do think it would be a good Jeep gun (whether it was an M1 Carbine or the long barreled Ruger Blackhawk). I've known more than one rancher out here that uses the M1 Carbine. Another good Jeep gun is the Win. or Marlin 30-30 lever action.

M1 And it's inherited. I even have an original scabbard, to use for a pattern. I'd like to see about doing a Kydex repro.

Just take it to a gun show and see what the vendors selling a like carbine will offer.

Before you go, check out Gunbroker.com for the same item.

Or check out the "Blue Book of Gun Values."

Never heard of an M-1 Carbine going "kaboom."

Over the years, lots of companies made copies ... Iver Johnson, just to think of one. Some were made out of specification, so standard parts will not fit correctly.

An M-1 Carbine aficionado will spot any trouble spots immediately.

Who is the manufacturer of the carbine.
Inland Div. receiver under sight, with a Rockola BBL. serial number indicates late 1944 production. Capital P in a square on stock directly to the rear of trigger guard, LR CO. on rear sight and that's about all I can find without tear down.

    Gunz are icky.
Appears to be a typical USGI mixed part rebuild.
The purists will moan about it but it's a fine solid little rifle.
Value wise it's hard to say with certainty. Most USGI carbines are selling anywhere from $600 and up.
Id shoot the snot out of it and post pics.
Now remember it is a 70 yr old gun that has probably been fired a few times so don't expect AR type accuracy out of it. Start at 50yds and see what it does.
