That would be stand-your-ground, not castle.

Castle doctrine and SYG are the same thing.

"A castle doctrine, also known as a castle law or a defense of habitation law, is a legal doctrine that designates a person's abode or any legally occupied place (for example, a vehicle or home) as a place in which that person has protections and immunities permitting one, in certain circumstances, to use force"

I use the terms as they were used when the laws were passed.

Castle Law - Your home is your castle. You have no duty to retreat. Part of Texas Law since 1995.

Castle Doctrine/SYG - Extends Castle law to places outside your home. Part of Texas Law since 2007.

Whatever you choose to call it, he had not duty to retreat in that alley.

This is just another example of how our society has crumbed over the past 50 or so years.
Everybody thinks they are right all of the time. We can't talk to each other calmly anymore.
    Thanks social media.
I will never argue with and armed man unless I has a weapon and I have it pointed directly in the middle of his chest. Then it would either be walk away to live another day, or it would be 3,2,1, pull.

    "3, pull, 2, 1" seems more pro-active and results-oriented, if you're going that route.

But I've been in plenty situations that STARTED like this one seems to have started, and guess what? Calm the eff down, apologize, walk away, even if your woman eggs you on. Even if you think you're in the right and your ego has a boo-boo.

I certainly hope my last words in this world won't be "come on, shoot me, you effing f•ggots!"

Imma gonna dump it in Kar98’s yard.

Aight. Don't mind me... just trimming some hedges.

Legally, it’s not that cut and dry. A simple voiced threat “I’m going to kill you” doesn’t meet the threshold for self-defense.

Every time I watch that and the guy says
“Back off” while holding a gun, my mind goes to this

There are morals to this story. Words don't mean shit. Words don't stop bullets. A shotgun to the face changes who the toughest mfer in the room is quick, fast, and in a hurry. You can be morally right just before being physically dead. And the number one lesson here is don't threaten two men with death that are holding guns and are willing to kill you.

But closing in on you on less than 3 yards distance, wielding a bat and screaming your head off might.

While true, what happened before the video is shot?

Being an asshole in a public area doesn’t give John Q Public the right to stop my behavior through the use of deadly force.

Wife had to video instead of calling police........police evidently knew this guy very well..........big guy with mental/anger issues......comfortable using intimidation on folks to get his way........

He wasn't too worried about his kids not having him around anymore...............
