It is a way to raise union wages. Many union contracts have clauses guaranteeing the same percentage of raise as the minimum wage gets, automatically. This is very inflationary. It will affect the price of every single item that was made by, transported by, or in any way handled by union workers.

They also have no idea of history. FDR froze wages at higher levels during the Great Depression saying it would supply Americans with (to paraphrase) "a living wage." Unfortunately, those higher wages torpedoed businesses because due TO the economic depression, they did not have the money to hire those over-priced workers and even MORE people were out of jobs.....due to "minimum wages." Just one of the many socialist ideas FDR implemented that did nothing but extend the number of years the Great Depression lasted. The U.S. didn't pull out of that economic crash until AFTER WW II, when the increased manufacturing abilities developed during the war were converted back to civilian production.

The former is at least something that's known to have at least some genetic component. The latter doesn't necessarily. The problem is that using eugenics to try breeding these out, you have to include family of people who fall into those categories. "Oh, your family has a history of this?" Mental illness can skip generations and pop up a again.
