The old joke about "How do you know a cop is lying? His lips are moving." is applicable here. We expect the police to mislead us in an attempt to get at whatever greater truth they seek. But break down, realize that what you did was probably over the top, and try to have a heart-to-heart, fully honest talk with the person you just arrested and what will you get?

Crucified.

For the most part, cops can't win. If they do the right thing, they get a commendation once in a blue moon. If they screw up, they become instant social media stars, even when the screwing up was actually an attempt to build some bridges.

Yeah, you're both right. But the dashcam video shows that the woman did nearly everything wrong you can possibly do.

Yes, maybe she had parked not knowing she was being pulled over. That's possible. I've done it. The raw video makes it clear that such might be the case. (See next post.) That would explain why she got out of the car (Mistake 1) and why the cop gave her a chance, quite nicely, to get back in.

Then she decided to talk back, telling him where she was going instead of immediately complying. That's Mistake 2.

After making the cop repeat himself (Mistake 3), she failed to get fully back into the car (Mistake 4).

After being given multiple clear, simple orders as to how to get back into the car, she failed to comply. Mistake 5.

After being told to get out, she failed to comply (Mistake 6) and then resisted his physical attempt to extricate her (Mistake 7) and continued to resist being taken into custody (Mistake 8).

The woman was a ****-up in every way possible.

Cop #1 handled an uncooperative perp in the approved fashion as trained by APD and every other agency. Ass-evedo may try to railroad him, but the union will get him reinstated with back pay.

Cop #2 ran his mouth and embarrassed Ass-evedo and APD. He'll get crucified and barbecued.
