    Tyler "suburbs"... :)
I do NOT recommend a 45 Colt (with anything but cowboy loads)/410 derringer...
I said "DO NOT" for a small person, hell, I can barely take a few shots from it with "buffalo bore" ammo...

The Judge isn't AS BAD, but derringer, NO THANKS!

My mother in law just went on her first range trip with a friend (my father in law died). She wants to buy a firearm for home defense. The guy told her a shotgun would be best due to not having to accurately aim as much to hit your target. I totally disagree with the advice the guy gave her. She's a very small woman (about 5' tall).

    What do you guys think?
To paraphrase Jeff Cooper, the best firearm for defense is the one which you are comfortable with and practice with and have in hand or close by.

    I’d buy her a .22lr pistol such as a Kel-Tec P-17.
And a pile of quality ammo for it.
She can learn to shoot that. They’re quite reliable with good ammo. Plus they have the large capacity. Slide it easy for older fingers to manipulate.
15+ rounds of Mini-Mags in a goblins face is acceptable.
LOL.........picking up one of these tomorrow for myself which will end up being suppressed

I bought my 80 y.o. (now) mother a .38 spl revolver 3 years ago. Took her to the range... and feel quite comfortable in her ability to use it if needed. Easy to use. No safety or other controls to worry about.

If you are old and feeble like me and do not own a full auto MP-5, then choice #2 is probably a 20 ga shotgun only because a 12 ga will make your ears bleed indoors. ( don’t ask me how I know)
