I always wanted one of the old blazers.
Yeah the pre-74 I believe where full convertibles. After that it was just the back that came off and not the top of the cab.
I had a 89 suburban on 37's in high school that was a tank! I always wanted a shorter wheel based vehicle like that. Blazer or bronco, but preferably a International Scout.

The biggest difference is the front end. Early 1978 and prior Ford had a solid front axle. Then it went to twin ibeam. Now it's a independent McPherson type.

The Chevy had a solid front axle. Later becoming independent.

Another big difference between them. Ford had a lot more engine choices. Straight 6, 302, 351m, 400 Cleveland, 360FE or 390FE (Ford/Edsel), and 460 big block(385 series)

The Chevy had two 350 or 454.

I've drove both. Bent the steering gear on the Chevy driving over a small cedar tree. The other was Ford twin ibeam. Nothing bent but the front tires wore like crap from being a twin ibeam suspension. The tires follow an arch.

I vote 4 door blazer. Also known as a Tahoe.

Was this the newer body style that turned into the Tahoe? I thought they stopped making the k5 in 91/92? Then they had the K1500 Blazer/Tahoe?

You sir, are correct. New body style; 4% of Chevy/GM combined sales in 94 were for that option; Most were DoD B-fleet vehicles.

The K5s last year was 91. I just find it easier to describe as a K5 diesel than a 94 Blazer SL(whatever) with the shifter on the column and the 2WD/4H/4L selector (transfer case) on the floor.

Had a 1995 GMC Yukon 2-Door SLT 4x4 (READ K5 Blazer and it was not a Z71 package). So there's where I stand. It was miles better than its equivalent year Bronco.

Owned a 94 K5 Diesel. If the Bronco came with a diesel, I would have had that instead.

Wow, talk about a Unicorn. To this day I have never seen an L65 6.5TD Blazer. I would have been all over that.

Have had 3 Blazers, but the best was a 1978 400/4-TH400. 12 bolt rear, D44 front. Best of all it was no emissions and ran leaded fuel. Was an absolute beast, not that grocery store crap they make today.

I had a 1990 K5 blazer. It was a load of fun after I replaced all the shit that would not take the abuse. Replaced the 350 TBI with a 350 TBI after it was up to the headlights in water. Replaced the rear axle with a D60 with a locker, D44 in the front. It came with the 3 speed muncie, coupled with 4.11 gears and some 33's you could walk next to it in 4 low and watch the truck drive the trail.

It was a purpose built truck for forest work when I was back in Minnesota. 33x9.5 super swamper TSL bias ply tires. It was used to weave around stump beads after they would clear the forest. It got stuck in the swamp a lot and it got a lot of other things un-stuck.

    Blazer all the way.

Long story short - Had a repair on my Blazer, found out later it was recall issue, Chevy wouldn't honor it. Will never go back. Bought my first Ford ever last year and love it.

Enjoyed my 1975 Blazer. Very simple truck. It did manage to run over my leg once, but that was my fault.

Those hoping for something similar to the past trucks will be very disappointed in the new Blazer/Broncos.

    They have recycled the names.
