Texas is already blue. We just haven't realized it yet. If you look at what's happening in Harris County Dallas San Antonio Austin, pretty soon you're going to see no Republicans getting elected to office

The challenge is the concentration of extreme ‘blue’ in the urban areas.

Funny thing is all the Immigrants from other states are skewing the politics in a non-native manner.

Same election, but for local results.

And by ideology. Note that about 1/3d each responded as either R, D, or Independent.

That 1/3d who identify as Independent are the people to follow.

From Texascounties.net, a pretty good analysis that is disconcerting.

    IMG_2067.JPG

The top ten most populous counties in Texas, as a group, vote down the center or lean Democratic, while the remaining 244 counties are, as a group, solidly Republican.

Turnout was higher throughout the state in 2016, but especially in the large, urban counties.

In the ten most populous counties, Trump received slightly fewer votes than Romney, despite a much higher turnout. As a result, his share of the vote in these urban counties was much lower than Romney's.

Clinton received a huge increase in number of votes compared to Obama in the most populous counties. Third party and independent candidates also saw a large boost in votes. Both Clinton's and the "other" share of the vote increased substantially.

In the remaining 244 counties, both major-party candidates' share of the vote was lower in 2016 compared to 2012, while third party and independent candidates did better.

Well like most cities are Democratic, while small town and surrounding cities are republicans

I’m trying to coach my just turned 18 year old kid about how to consider his voting responsibility. He’s a little nervous and unsure. He wants to be informed.

I explained the process to him.

    And wow, those proposition questions.

I found this link to send him.

Interesting to see the different propositions for dem and rep.
    WOW.

Was answering a lot of the questions going “**** yeah”

Re: the Dem propositions - Talk about massive deficits coming. So they want to go with zero college loans to ease the economic burden of the next generation? So who is going to pay for that? The next generation.

    No common sense at all...

Should everyone in Texas have the right to a fair tax system, where all interests (business, corporations, and individuals) pay their share, so that state government meets its obligations? Yes/No

    Nope just huge tax increases

Not all people that vote in the Democratic primary will vote Democratic in the general election.

    This.

Republicans are safe as long as they send up good candidates. But some are questionable, like AG Paxton and his legal problems, and Lt Gov Patrick who thinks the bathroom is the most important issue. Both of these needed to be primaried with better candidates, but that did not happen. I am sure there are a couple others.

He did it. He talked about some of his answers with me. He thinks a little differently from me on a few things but I think he did well.

Reading the REP and DEM propositions and had there been no reference to which party, it was quite obvious who was who. The DEMs contained “the right to.” The social justice narrative was all so apparent. Sounds like socialism.
