Robert B. Parker wrote the Spencer for hire series. He also wrote the Jesse Stone series that Tom Selleck played Jesse Stone in the TV movies.

I wasn’t aware of Day of Wrath. I’m going to have to add it to my list.

Books are always better. If they tried to make a movie using the whole book it would have to be over 5 hours long.

Books are always better. Some books have successfully been made into a movie or mini-series, and some have actually been pretty damned good. "Lonesome Dove" by Larry McMurtry being a good example. The Jesse Stone series as well.
