Gents, Noticed an announcement on Cabela's website that their League City store on Gulf Freeway will have its grand opening this March 17th.

A new Cabela's is never a bad thing, but what happened to the rumor that Bass Pro was buying out Cabela's? It was supposed to happen January 1st.

I've been to a Bass Pro.

    Everything was overpriced.

Why would you pay retail plus for anything?

Is Cabelas about the same in general cost wise for what they're selling?

Cabela's in-house brands are higher quality than BPS, and they offer a finer selection in general. Cabela's also has a "Gun Library" with a pretty good, and often unique, selection of used firearms, which makes for interesting browsing and an occasional good deal.

Here's a link about what has happened to Cabelas. I hope Bass Pro doesn't buy them out. it will be the end of Cableas if true.

No word on future plan sale plans, developing growth strategies to artificially inflate value and working the old CEO out of his duties ... looks like the hedge fund is working their "magic" ...

Thanks for that updated info mitchntx. It sounds more hopeful that Cabelas will stay in business and not be bought out. I hope so, not a fan of Bass Pro but do shop there on occasion.

Given it's in League City, I'd wager the date keeps getting pushed back as a few city bureaucrats play their petty little games. LC isn't too business friendly. I'm still amazed they decided to place that store there.

    I love their catalogs.

    I see what I like.

Then, I find it elsewhere for far less money.

I'm not going to pay for their marketing.

2 days ago you didn't know anything about their pricing and now you're an expert. LOL
