I already did it. Keep in mind I've never been a car guy or super fancy so there's that.

I'd rather bounce around on a back road and throw some meat on a campfire than have a waiter in a tie and valet parking.

'77 Ford F100 sitting on 37" Humvee tires. Still working on specs as I just don't know much about that era. Had to jump on the deal. Worry about the details later kind of thing.

Not to be a dick but it looks like a 67-69 model year. I only know because Dad had a 1969 F100 2wd that he drove for around 5 years. Strictly work truck and daily driver that I never could figure out how he shifted the 3spd column shift manual transmission.

Still a badass ride since the 1967-1979 Ford pickups are my favorite era even with the various changes the body styles had.

    Nice rig :)

Over the years I've had MGs, TAs, Jags, Lincolns... and now I finally got what I really wanted (Traded a 2011Outback straight across for it after I got down here, lol)

Looks like someone already claimed the 1970 Hemi Cuda I was going to mention; I've always loved how that car looks. Right now I'm chasing old cars as a weekend idle hands project but keep getting sticker shock at the prices people are demanding even for formerly common vehicles like a longbed truck, no engine, no brakes, rust holes, $15k. Nevermind that a perfect immaculate one is only $45k, just $40k in repairs and you too can have a $35k truck!. I think I just have to buy a good one instead of an inexpensive project. dang.

For the not-so-common stuff I think i'd really like
    1954 Ford F100
    1965 Lincoln Continental
And a Shelby Daytona (or a replica kit car I keep telling myself $35k for a rolling kit is totally worth it and I should sell my guns to buy one)

I learned to drive in one of these.

    396. 4 speed.

NO power brakes. No power steering.

I would (c'mon LOTTO!!) retro mod one in a Sagamore Second! (Sagamore, Pa)

Four link it (9" FoMoCo rear).

800 HP BIG CHEVY (check the Summit catalog)...

Some standard shift what takes GEAR OIL...

    Four wheel disc brake stoppers.

    POWER blame STEERING!

I ran across this article while looking for good pics tonight that goes through the history of the Interceptors...and the fact that the base car has become nearly impossible to find for sale anywhere. It also details the builds for each version of the car - from the nonfunctional blower to the 600 HP monster, and then the one they had to build from the ground up for "Fury Road".

    COOL LINK
I'd like a'72 Pantera RSR with the 351 Clevland swapped out for a 351 Windsor with eagle heads and fuel injection. I've had Sunbeam Tigers and AMXs. PAX
THAT WOULD BE A COOL CAR INDEED!

Frame VIN stamp comes back as a '77 so that's what it's registered as.

Later they went to registering the cab not the frame.

Body/ cab swaps are pretty common with these older trucks.

Previous owner received it in trade for work so he didn't know much about it. Title he got with it was for a '69 so what you're saying makes sense. He had the Sheriff's Department run the frame VIN and it came back clean as a '77 so he got a bonded title as that.

I pretty much picked it up and parked it. Other priorities are keeping me from digging in to it much. It runs well and has had a ton of work done under the hood and in the cab. No rust as that would have been a deal breaker for me.

I know I've got a lot to learn about this thing.

My buddy's older brother had a new '70 AAR 340, 6 pack, 4 speed. On his way to the bus for Nam he told his mom not to let Rusty (his brother) drive it. As soon as he was gone, Rusty took it to the Mustang Ranch. On the way back he was going beak-to-beak with a Z28 when he rolled it. :(. A Daytona kit with correct 427 would be the bomb. PAX

I know I've got a lot to learn about this thing.
On the body side, the 5th and 6th Gen F100s are fairly similar; the later years are more squared off. The bigger differences were in power train and option packages.

Seeing what’s been done to yours, none of that really matters unless you want to mate some year-appropriate body panels which probably won’t be worth the investment unless you have to replace stuff already due to rust or damage.

Yup. Except I wouldn’t want a true numbers matching car, I’d take a rolling chassis and body and do a nice resto-mod with it. A roush 5.0 IR mated to a Tremec TKX would start the powertrain combo for me.
I would want it bone stock. I don't care to make it more than it was when it was new.

This one has struck my fancy. It's supposedly a 1940 Packard Super 8 (not sure if it counts as a Pre-War Super 8 but it was at least pre-war for the USA). It looks like it would be lots of fun to drive around in it and that it would be fun to drive someone around in it. Lots of room for fun when parked too. That is some mean and flashy yet elegant looking ride!

If I recall correctly, a movie character, played by David Niven, asked for a Pre-War Super 8 as partial payment for a spy job for which he was recruited out of retirement. Was that movie Casino Royal, I think that was it. Could have been another movie maybe even another car but it was Niven's character who asked for one and this one came to mind tonight.

Matching numbers cars are just cars with matching numbers. Unless you're a car hoarder that locks them up in a air controlled building for safe keeping. But even then the time is coming/here when they won't be worth or wanted by the younger generations. IMO

As we've and breath they are already doing body swaps with them using anything they desire. Hondas,Toyotas, Nissan, BMW, so yeah they cut them up and piece them together and usually do wide fenders and ridiculous air foil treatments. In other words they are making American Muscle into Fartcan, Fast and Furious or drifter type crap.

Well, I've been lookin' for something that looked like fun - and found it - '47 Ford w/a Monte Carlo frame, Camaro front & rear clip - an' a 350 crate motor. Will likely drop an RV cam in it in the next year or two, just to liven it up a tad......
Oh - that's not paint issues on top of the fenders - it's got some nice ghost flames on it.
