I to am looking at purchaseing a .223 I fire an M4 and want to get a civilian version for play time. However I don't know where to realy start looking or which brand to go with any ideas?

In My Opinion, start your own thread asking this question. But..... have these things already figured out:
    Budget
    Purpose of rifle

About 1500. I was looking at a Bushmaster.

Bushmaster has had a lot of quality control problems lately. I'd avoid them (like the plague!). Your budget puts you into "really good" AR territory, where Bushy has always been what I'd consider a "value" brand... until their guns started refusing to work or outright breaking. Now the value is gone...

Hello, OP here. There seems to be overwhelming support for the AR style rifles and some good replies for bolt action. I am going to start looking into Rock Ridge and Colt for an AR style and Savage for a bolt action. We shall see where I go from here.

    Thanks guys.
