I also vote 229. Great trigger. Shoots good. Fits the hand good. Love it.

    Gun porn added.

    skfullen,

RotflmRao. = Understood, as I once bought a Colt's Gold Cup because I was getting all the .45ACP issue ammo that I wanted to shoot for FREE when I was a staffer at USAMPS.
(I could have bought a lot of ammo for what the Gold Cup cost at retail.)

There are a LOT of used .40S&W pistols available these days. My favorite in that caliber is the HK USP40--compact or full size. That pistol was designed specifically for that caliber and handles it exceptionally well. Likewise, there's a whole slew of used, former LEO Sigs coming on the market for reasonable cost. Those would be my two choices--given what you've mentioned about probable use for you.

Some of these options are a little pricey for my purposes. I have encountered references to glocks not being a great option for reloaders....glock bulge on the spent brass. I was checking out a place in Houston, collector's Firearms. They have a cz75b in 40 but at $600. Not really what I want to spend. Ppq in 40 are hard to find. That gun has some appeal.

    ldhunter1959,

Fwiw, I "heard" last week that the TISAS ZIGANA K & F will SOON be imported into the USA in.38 SUPER & in .40 S&W.
(IF they do bring in the K Model in .38 Super, I will be one of the first to order one in that caliber, as the Zigana K is a BEAUTIFULLY crafted firearm for anything near, or even 2-3X, that MSRP..)

It might be worth your time to wait & see.

Read a couple of reviews if these sub $300 pistols in 9. Well regarded.

Personally, I wouldn't over think this. If you have a specific pistol in 9mm you really like, and shoot we'll, and it's offered in 40, that might be the one to choose.
Oh it's one of those. Be nice to have another pps or cz75b or do I want something different to shoot. There are a lot more reasonable options out there than expected. Heck RIA even makes a 40 cal 1911 and I like my 1911a. Kind of leaning towards a m&p variant. Thinking of sneaking away from the house and checking a LGS. But my wife is one of the ones who would be more vulnerable to this damn virus....

Easy way to solve your predicament.

Buy several pistols that float your boat!

    Problem solved!

Aren't you glad I replied to your thread?

But seriously, since the 40 s&w was introduced, I have owned and shot many pistols in that caliber. Very, very few have disappointed me yet. As of now, I'm lacking one in 40 caliber. I have ammo, and no pistol! I'm truly ashamed of myself. I am leaning very hard towards getting another SA XDm40. Soon!
