Yeah, I used to stack mine wherever was convenient but kids started learning to climb and such.

As far as security goes, I live out in the sticks, anyone who makes it inside my house will make more than enough noise to wake me up and will be dealt with as needed.

If nobody is home a thin metal cabinet will not stop them anyways and the fact that there is a small safe or lockbox will probably give them the idea something valuable is inside. Figure they'll get it either way.

Stash components just like you do ammo. I was caught off guard by how quickly primers disappeared.

Ha yeah I know what you mean. This is why I am trying to learn reloading. So I won't be as easily affected by the market.

I do reload. The only components I have been able to find are for my odd calibers like 41 mag, 45 Long Colt/454 Casull, etc.

    Nothing to be found for 223, 6.5mm, .308, 380, 9mm, 38/357,10mm/40, 45 ACP.

I have a hook up in new mexico for .223 brass I buy .40 brass from gun masters in plano and I get my bullets from cabelas but I work next door so i go by there every morning. Now I have been reduced to using plated .40 bullets but I usually get 3or4 hundred .223bullets mostlt Barnes every week.

I Shop Natchezs quit a bit and use their notification system for wants. Took about 3 weeks but they sent me an email and I was able to procure 2 Boxes of 50 Hornady 308 Match Brass. Fortunately I had stashed a pound of IMR 4895 and have plenty of primers, just need the bullets. I finish with Hornady AMAX 168gr. bullets and have a notification set up at both Natchezs and Midway USA. Thing is, you have to be quick. I had ticklers out for 50AE and by the time I got off work to order they were already gone. Still, it fills the time until manufacturers can catch up.

All I know is that it's a sad day when I've got more ammo stocked than the local walmart. It's an even sadder day when all you need is a box of 22 to be better stocked than the local walmart.

Had an uncle pass away last year. My aunt knows nothing about guns so she sent my dad home with some different ammo that he had.
