Need to kill some deer with it. I started hunting with a 30-30 after my dad passed away and left me his. I have killed at least one deer per season with it since he died.Own it
Never hunted it
Very rarely shoot it
Only keep it because my dad gave it to me.
There wasn't a "No, I don't own one" option in the poll.Almost 16% have never heard of a 30-30?
I find that astonishing.
I'll be polite and leave it at - I prefer the traditional looking lever actions.
Do you shoot subs? Or does that can make much difference with supers?
The Hornady Sub-X have proven themselves to be underwhelming in their performance. See this thread from last year.Do you shoot subs? Or does that can make much difference with supers?
That's a shame. I was going to roll my own though. The Hornady Sub-X have proven themselves to be underwhelming in their performance. See this thread from last year.
Field Report- Hornady Sub-X 175 gr 30-30
Shot two deer in AR today. Solid hits. Not a drop of blood, strand of hair, or deer carcasses to show for it. Shots were at about 70 and 60 yards. Gotta say, I am really disappointed that these rounds did not live up to their marketing. Also the first time in many, many years I have not one...www.texasguntalk.com
The 170gr Hi-Shok rounds are very quiet and have proven to be effective at 150 yards.
I have some 190 grain Barnes 30-30 projectiles I am going to do something with in the realm of “almost” sub sonic. That's a shame. I was going to roll my own though.
Is that why you got rid of your MkII 22/45's and replaced them with Beretta U22 Neos'?
