Second deer hunt went well. Shot my first deer. Was a 10 point buck. Shot him right through the heart with my 30-30 at a little over 100 yds, open sights. I should have started doin this years ago.

Thanks everybody! Thanks also to itchn2shoot for copying the pics. Now that we butchered it, damn there was alot of meat. I'm trying to figure out what to do with the skin. I want to make a rug out of it but I've herd alot of different things on how to do this. The hide is hanging on a clothes line right now.

Ive always wanted to do it but never had the chance. A co-worker/friend lives on a ranch thats about 200 acres. They have deer on his property so I asked him to take me hunting. The guy's about my age and goes every year and was nice enough to take me and even take pics after the kill. I got really lucky meeting somebody kind enough to help educate me on the sport and take me out on his property for free. He didn't even want any of the meat. Sometimes the starts will align just right if you know what you want to do in life and are patient enough to jump on good opportunities when you see them.

I'm in the same boat as you, cleric. I want to try out hunting but don't know any experienced hunters, who can take me under their wings
