Still better than the truck my grandpa had. Even as a little kid, I didn't like the idea of the gas tank being right there on the floor of the passenger compartment.

How about right behind the seat like 67-72 Chevy trucks? Or between the driver and passenger like a Fiero?

I think it was 57 to 72 because my 64 had a tank in the cab

My '53 Chevy P/U had it's gas tank behind the seat and the battery box under the carpet on the passenger side. We lost a great classmate in high school due to that design.
