I've never seen one either. However, I have seen lots of people who don't know which side their fuel fill cap is on. I'll never understand that.Never seen a gas station with marked directions of travel. Hard to do since some cars have the filler on one side and some the other???
'80s model Chevy trucks had dual tanks with each having a filler on opposite sides of the truck. I saw one filling up just as you describe.I've never seen one either. However, I have seen lots of people who don't know which side their fuel fill cap is on. I'll never understand that.
One of the participants in a Cannonball has told the story of their fueling strategy. They had a huge gas tank (only 4 fuel stops from New York to California, average speed overall of 99-point-something mph) with fill caps on both sides of the car. In order to shorten their fuel stops, they'd pull smack in the middle between two rows of gas pumps then jump out and fill from both sides at the same time. Their single car would block two whole rows of pumps.
Now, that's something odd enough that I've never seen it. But it would be kinda cool, unlike the people who are so clueless they don't know which side to put next to the pumps.
Those were called saddle tanks. Pure Genious, until they started getting smashed when the truck got hit from the side.'80s model Chevy trucks had dual tanks with each having a filler on opposite sides of the truck. I saw one filling up just as you describe.
Genius or the stupidest shit you ever saw? I know which gets my vote.
Still better than the truck my grandpa had. Even as a little kid, I didn't like the idea of the gas tank being right there on the floor of the passenger compartment.Pure Genious, until they started getting smashed when the truck got hit from the side.
I do not believe in gas powered vehicles.

My first car was like that. 1977 Buick Skylark.A local Sam's has a fueling area with an entrance and an exit. One way in and one way out. There may be others like this but I've only seen the one.
My parents had a car that had the fuel cap in the middle of the rear bumper under the license plate.
