    Welllp.... the arrow should have gone over the top of the thumb and left of the grip (Actually there is a line of thought the arrow should go to the right of the grip with a raised thumb to form a cradle to allow faster reloads - a world champ archer does it that way)...

    But... to do what he did, he'd have to have way overpulled the arrow beyond the length of the shaft, let it drop a tad then release the bowstring. Could happen if he THOUGHT he picked up a bow set up for a youth with a short pull, and just pulled with an adult bow.

    Oh yes, drunk and stupid prolly also play into the mix!!

    No actually. None of the poor bastards were willing to go experience it for themselves.
