I was wondering if Idpa rules allow a g17c to be used, I found a good deal on one and want to start shooting idpa thanks.

If I remember correctly, IDPA rules don't allow any compensated guns.

Depending on how good the deal you could snatch it up and buy a regular barrel to install. Not sure in the rules would still catch you for have the cuts for the ports in the top of the slide.

The 17c would be legal with a non-c barrel. But, just a little advice, get a G34. For IDPA, it is the way to go.

the 34 isnt considered a modded pistol and is okay.

I have been shooting a G34 for about 2 years now. Next to the 1911, the G34 is probably the most popular pistol.
