Another positive to owning my dream 1970 455 HO TransAm 4 speed is I can Diagnose/fix/repair anything on it myself. Can you do that on a 2015? Oh HELL NO...

Its not as difficult as you might think once you figure out all all the modules and systems and how they are divided amonst all those scarey looking components under the hood.

Yeah 2015 Monsters darn near NO ONE here can afford. lol Heck you can still get a late 60' early 70's and restore it back to brand new. In which I might add as well was the BEST years for the True Muscle car....

you don't need to get the Z06 or GT500 or Viper... sensible money will still get you a Mustang GT or Camaro 1LE which will still eat a typical muscle/pony car's lunch.

I'm trying to go look at this sometime this week:

should i bring a trailer with me? :D

Unreal money for a car that was probably more like $8-9k new in 1971.

These were mass-produced Plymouths that didn't sell well because, when loaded with the $883 Hemi engine on top of the $3,291 base price for a convertible, they were really expensive. They had also become really expensive to insure.

    http://www.hemmings.com/hmn/stories/2013/06/01/hmn_feature18.html

In 1971, only 6,228 'Cuda hardtops and 374 convertibles were built. A scant 108 hardtops were built with Hemis and just 11 convertibles had Street Hemi power. Four-speed manual Hemi 'Cuda convertibles are the rarest of all with just three built.Value Trend
    1993: $250,000
    1998: $410,000
    2003: $1,000,000
    2008: $3,000,000
    2013: $1,200,000

The economy correction from 2008 was massive.

New ones are harder to diagnose, at least for me. An OBD reader only helps so much.

In the old days, I used to do everything but the automatic transmission. Didn't have a transmission jack.

0-60 in 5 seconds isn't really "fast" comparitively these days. The new F150 EcoBoost Supercrew does 0-60 in 5.6 seconds.

Quick is sub 4's, fast is sub 3's, and really fast is sub 2's. Lol Which is also insane.

Pretty fast for a 70's car. Today sedans will do under 5's

i don't know a single production car that does 0-60 in under 2sec. the only ones to do it in under 3sec are the GTR, 911 Turbo S, and Veyron, if i'm not mistaken.

in the real world, 0-60 in under 6sec is quick. under 4sec to me is stupid fast.

Camaro SS with stick shift is 4.2. Pretty darned fast.

Anything below 4.0 is simply screaming.

    Somewhere here nor there....
I'd much rather have this 1972 455 HO 4 speed Posi Transam restored for 34,500$ right now. And Only 472 of these were ever made

    $_57.jpg

Or this 1970 455 HO GTO for 48,900$ right now. These are the TRUE muscle cars. And I can diagnose/fix ANYTHING on them. lol
