I've been bidding on a SKS paratrooper on GunBroker for the last week, well it ended last night in the middle of the night and someone out bid me after I was winning for the last couple of days...I mean who stays up to place a bid at 4am?

On a good note though, now I can get some new luxuries like groceries as that money was my food funds for the month....no more roman noodles!

Gun Broker has a 15 minute rule so you have to be online when the auction is scheduled to end IF you want to "compete". "Buy Now" has killed me more than once; talk about not competing-that's almost cheating.

I used to use an online snipe bidding program from ebay. Got some stuff at 5 seconds till.

It was great, though that thing made me spend more money in ebay stuff that I should have.

Been looking for a good deal of gun broker for a while. Though not much, in the way of deals.

I love buy it now on an auction. First, it lets you know right away if the person wants too much for it, and second, if its a good deal, you can snatch it right then and not have to worry about losing it.

Why on alot of these sites do they not have a starting bid, instead of "reserve not met"?

Who knows, I never really understood the reserve thing. Either start your auction with the minimum you will take, or start it out at .01 and let the fun begin. I usually skip right over auctions with reserves on them.

Gunbroker ought to be required to run a banner on each page with that 800 number for compulsive gambling assistance like they have on the casino billboards and lottery tickets!

Thanks, ya buncha jerks...ya just HAD to mention gun auctions....and there on Auction Arms, one of the few Randall's left that I don't own (in RH .45's anyways....). Now, because of YOU TROUBLEMAKERS....it's mine...one of 293 A331's made. ;)

As to reserves...it's handy sometimes to protect against an auction that doesn't garner the attention it should - I don't hesitate to email and inquire as to the reserve. If they don't wanna tell me, it's usually because it's rediculously high, and I just move on. What REALLY kills me is the reserve some of these yahoos put on 'em - the DU Randall listed on Gunbroker right now has been relisted time and again - the seller is wanting $2k reserve on it, and frankly, he's welcome to it - but he ain't gonna git it from ME. Besides, I already own the model, an' owning one because it's a DU edition don't add nuthin' to it in my mind.
