I read somewhere that infowars is the most quoted headlines on the DrudeReport. His topics and reporting does open avenues of national discussions, and if I remember correctly, he was reporting on the NSA intrusion long before Snowden came out.

He was on about that more than 10 years ago. There were other whistleblowers in the NSA before snowden, he's just the first to gain international media attention.
