I went with the Weber Genesis a few years ago. Made in the USA. I got the model with the stainless grates and they're holding up great.

For gas grills, the Weber Genesis is worth the extra coin. I had mine for 6 years and it's held up better than any other grill I've owned. I also went with the stainless steel grates. But I use my Big Green Egg more.

I have a Genesis as well, did my research over 6 years ago and couldn't be happier with it. Use it a LOT.

I have a BBQ pit with a grill on the side. It came from Ace hardware and was locally made. You can find them T some trailer and frame shops. They are usually 1/8-1/4" plate.
I added a steel braid gas line, 10# regulator and a Cajun cooker burner. They work great for burgers, steals or briskets. Throw some wood on and you got a smoker.

I bought a Napoleon grill a couple years ago. 15 yr warranty. Stainless grate. Side burner/sear burner. I am happy. Tired of replacing grills every 2-3 years. We use the grill daily as we have no stove in the house ( that I will allow my wife to use).

My wife is half greek and treats me like a greek god. She gives me burnt offerings. This is true. She knew the hard-boiled eggs were done because they exploded. She tends to forget and she has caught things on fire. It is much safer to limit here to a microwave. She can burn up a coffee maker in a couple months.

Oh man I needed that laugh.
Look at it this way. It could be worse. My wife drives by the Braile method.

Reminds me of the popcorn incident. Directions say 1.5-4 minutes. Set timer to four minutes. Get a phone call. Walk off and leave the popcorn. At 3.5 minute mark the house is filled with smoke. Cook 30 more seconds. Yea!

    So I make the popcorn.
But there are a few un-popped kernels.
Yes but the popped corn is not burned and the house still smells nice.

How does the Stainless grates compare to the cast iron ones?

They take a bit longer to heat up, but they don't rust. Over the years, the cast iron ones will also start to flake. Stainless doesn't do that.

Stainless is easier to clean too. When I cook on gas, looking for easy, fast and less mess. But I think I've got stainless on my Egg too.
