    I have a BBQ pit with a grill on the side. It came from Ace hardware and was locally made. You can find them T some trailer and frame shops. They are usually 1/8-1/4" plate.

    In the market myself. Can you share the manufacturer name of yours, and maybe also which Ace I could visit and be likely to see one?

    Lump charcoal is the way to go. Gas is good if You like the taste of boiled chicken.

    The Gen 2 Weber is a nice grill. And it will last. I like the stainless grate since much easier to clean and they seem to last longer.
