Help identify this rifle

Hello

My niece's boyfriend is helping clean out his Grandfather's house and came across this rifle. It is in rough shape. I was wondering if someone could ID it from the pictures. They couldn't find any markings and the bolt is rusted close. These are the only pictures I have and I don't have access to the gun

The ones I see online the bolt looks different.

My niece is going to try to take a better picture of just the bolt trigger assembly tomorrow.

The back of the bolt makes it look like a HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON , MODEL: 348 or 349 GAMESTER

Yes, but the stock has that screw in the fore grip.

When I was a kid, I found my great grandfathers old 20 ga bolt action SG, I think it was a Marlin.
I would use it as a play gun , good thing I never found any shells.

Yep - Looks like my Old Man's 16ga Mossberg. Bolt action shotguns have never really done it for me.

Looks like a 20ga I bought from Western Auto called a "Revelation" in the late 60s, early 70s. I think they were made by Mossberg but Marlin, Savage, etc. all made guns for for Western Auto in those days.

Bottom line is that with the amount of rust on it, it can't be worth much. It looks like it was a cheap gun originally, and with it's condition, it's only good as a decoration.

Hose it down with WD-40. I bet it can be made to shoot again. I love little projects like that. I have several old junkers I’ve rescued like that. I Probably couldn’t get $50 for most of them.

The screw choke makes me think mossberg. But the Western Auto Revelation comment stands out.

Would a bath in a lye solution work? I've used it on cast iron pans to bring them back to life, but thinking it's probably for removal of grease not rust (as I'm typing I remember using vinegar bath to prevent the rust).
