    DFW area.....Wylie.
Just trying to help out. Feral hogs can be baited, trapped, lasered, shot from a vehicle using spotlights & suppressors.........they are a nuisance and the state allows you just about any method to try to limit their numbers. Just keep in mind what you can do on private property vs public land (and be able to distinguish feral hogs from javelina).

If you shout the feral hog, in the head with FMJ or hollow bullet, which works best!
I love all the comments that have been posted. this site is cool.

Yep, Shot placement and range would be the biggest factor.
FMJ would not be my first choice, but your going to be close anyway for a pistol to be effective. So just shoot in the head.

I always bring a friend who runs slower than I do. It works well for hogs and bear.:p

Its like the Bomb Squad disarmers whose shirt read, "If you see me running, please, try to keep up..."

Personally, I wouldnt carry anything smaller than a .45 ACP, loaded with a deep penetrating round, like a heavy loaded XTP or a heavy, wide metplat FMJ, or some of the popular magnum rounds. I used a 6.5" barreled 610 S&W packed with handloaded 200 gr XTPs, and in my opinion, that was perfect hog medicine...

    Rock on!
