At the bottom of the pistols page. He lists some of the manufacturers he works on, Smith and Wesson isn't listed...

Yes I should have mentioned 1911 specific. But I didn't realize a smith and Wesson would any different from other manufacturers. but I plan on calling both John and V-berg and talking to them both. ThanksThe plot continues to thicken. Your original post should have included that you were looking for a 1911-specific 'smith who works on S&W. Have you thought about calling V-berg to ask if he'll work on a S&W?
I dont mind an extended lead time if it means its done right the first time and doesn't have to go back. this 1911 has been to someone twice so far and both times it needed to go back.Ed Vandenberg is a good smith also. However his lead times can be daunting. It's a part time gig for him and getting in touch with him regarding progress on the gun and estimated completion time is always problematic. Knowing that up front will help with dealing with him. I tend to go to him for some shotgun stuff and just about everything FN/FAL. However I am prepared to wait 6 weeks also.
The 'great minds think alike' comment comes to mind
Well he may be the closest to me. thanks I will talk to him too. Is that a store front? This guy was around doing work on LE 1911's when I was just a puppy. Once upon at time he was considered one of the best.

The one at hot wells has moved from there. Not sure why.I wouldn't let either of these guys touch a 1911 except for cleaning.
They don't have the experience to know what they can't do.

He works at AGR Outdoors now, and though I do a lot of business with AGR, I wouldn't let him near any of my guns.
