Gov. Perry was on Fox this morning saying that the exodus from California to Texas has been going on for a decade. He actually had NUMBERS to quote.

You can see the influx of Californians pretty clearly in Austin. They don't even blend in with the native hippies.

Well I was going to balme all the idiocracy on all the pot smoking but since they shot down Prop 19 maybe Cali doesn't have as many smokers as everyone thought. Too bad though that just makes it's residents exceptionally stupid!

Around here there's people with bumper stickers that read: "Welcome to Nashville! Ya'll can go home now!"
In a certain western state during the height of the California invasion (when we left, 47% of the state population was native), the thought of a fence at the border was only partially in jest. It got pretty bad with immigrants who said they left California because they couldn't stand it there, but kept talking about how they were going to "improve" things in their new (backward) home (yeah, we were "hicks" who needed to be educated about how to do things "right"). It was amazing. Our state was changed forever, unfortunately.

They shot it down because they dont want to pay taxes on their weed. Their $20 bag would become $40....it has nothing to do with them being against marijuana.

Let me get this straight, if you smoke a cigarette in california they want to beat you to death, they wont let Mcdonalds put toys in their happy meals , but will consider letting you smoke pot. Even if that was passed, is it not a crime under federal law? . I guess if your in Calif you dont have to worry about Federal law. So we in Texas should be able to enforce our own border as we see fit , as well as the people in Az right?

They have reached critical mass on people who want every service, but do not want to pay for it.

The scary part is, the rest of the country is really not that far behind. So if we don't get some cool rules ourselves, pronto, we'll just be bogus too.

i gotta go with Matey on this one. cause im sure Big Pharms dont want to compete with the avg street dealer after racking in the "Legal" medical dough!!

Big pharma isn't involved, it's very much "grass roots" if you'll excuse the pun. But you're right about the rest - the dispensary folks don't want to see their profits cut into by a real big industry. Can you imagine if tobacco and/or the ag industry got into the pot biz? The dispensary people (and street dealers, let's face it) did, and it scared them.

Honestly, I think it would have wound up reducing the price of weed, because now it's fairly limited on the supply side and the market is pretty much closed.

The two groups lobbied hardest against it? Law enforcement and pot sellers. Tells me everything I needed to know about the war on drugs.
