DO NOT BUY FROM HP/COMPAQ! THEIR PRODUCTS CAUSE PROPERTY DAMAGE, START FIRES, AND WILL BURN YOUR SKIN. HP KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE AND SAYS THEIR ARE "WARNING LABELS" IN PLACE TO PREVENT LAWSUITS AGAINST THEM! WHY BUY FROM A COMPANY THAT PRATICE THIS TYPE OF BUSINESS AND THEN OUTSOURCE THEIR TECH SUPPORT TO ANOTHER COUNTRY?!? HP IS TRASH AND THEY DO NOT RESPECT THEIR CUSTOMERS.

I've had nothing but good to say about their products. both my work computers are HP and are Atleast 6 years old neither have problems and since I know how to fix my own computers I've never dealt with the customer service.

Bought an HP a few years ago and it broke a week after the warranty ended. Motherboard was bad, so I tried to get another. HP wouldn't sell one, but said they would give me one if I had bought the extended warranty. Finally, I got one of their techs on the phone and he told me how to order one online. THE MOTHERBOARD WAS A RE-NUMBERED E-Machines BOARD!! I could have bought the E-Machine computer for 25% less than I paid for the HP.

Furthermore, how stupid was it for them to buy Compaq, then move the manufacturing from Texas to Kalifornia?

I don't want to get all radical about the company, but I won't buy anything from them.

and macs are so uptite about their supposed anti virus operating systems that when you do have a virus on one you can never really. and all electronic companies have problems. this is why i learned young how to repair them. just think everyone of these places hire excons and 18 year old retards to put their products together.

I have talked to Mac support, They speak English, They seem to be located in the USA, and did not charge me to correct a minor issue caused by my little pup walking on my keyboard and setting a Zoom in on screen.

BTW I still have a PC machine, Just no need to power it up.
This may never be the .45 vs 9mm debate, but it is interesting to see the feedback.

Girlfriend bought an HP laptop 2 yrs ago and its been with Geek Squad 4 times already. Twice to replace the motherboard! Really??? TWO motherboards!! Another time to replace the WiFi adapter and another for a total meltdown. I wanted to think that we just got a lemon but i continue to hear stories like this. No more HP in my house!

One time I spent 11 hours on hold with HP support. I was on hold for a couple hours and then fell asleep. Still on hold when I woke up.

Last month I sent my laptop in for new mouse pad, cooling fan, wifi adapter, and two other problems I cant remember right now. They had it 2-3 weeks and after multiple calls with no help from "HP al-Qaeda" named Tim and Arnold among others. I received an empty box. I call back and they said my product was shown as delivered. Another week later, I recieve my laptop in some random box (not the original purchase box I sent). It had screws falling out, missing pieces, wires hanging and a different hard drive.

I have been waiting over a moth for a case manager to call, with no avail! They told me it would be less than 24hours, I made another call yesterday with the promise of a call within the hour.. 19 hours later still nothing. I would really like to stir up some trouble for them, you know.. crap in their pool lol. Anyone have any ideas?!

Also, I love mac as I bought one for my wife. It just has alot of software compatability issues and Apple will not sell me a dual booted version. They also said it would void my warranty!

You should do what I did with my HP, I bought some tanerite and gave it a loving good bye martha focker. I will never own HP anything, they sell garbage and I get sick of their customer service in India. I fix computers on the side, but I will not mess with HP, the only cure for an HP is to jam that plug into a 3 phase 550 volt outlet.

Good luck, I wouldn't let up on them, not a single bit!
