Bolting down may seem unnecessary since it has never been bolted to the ground but like I said one person could slide it on the carpet. Not easily but can be done. There is also my wife and her saying it will be bolted down. She has a few irrational fears and she thinks it will tip over and crush her.
In my understanding, based upon some professional videos I have seen on the subject of guns safes, one of the main reasons for bolting down a safe is so that burglars cannot easily tip it over and then, with much more leverage than if it was standing, use a long pry bar to open to open the door. It is amazing how fast they can open a gun safe, even of brands that folks normally think of as being a very secure safe.

Moving them is no small task.

We rolled my smaller safe up the stairs. Literally upside down on the landing, spin, and roll again. Right side up at the top of the stairs. Worked pretty well.
