In my understanding, based upon some professional videos I have seen on the subject of guns safes, one of the main reasons for bolting down a safe is so that burglars cannot easily tip it over and then, with much more leverage than if it was standing, use a long pry bar to open to open the door. Bolting down may seem unnecessary since it has never been bolted to the ground but like I said one person could slide it on the carpet. Not easily but can be done. There is also my wife and her saying it will be bolted down. She has a few irrational fears and she thinks it will tip over and crush her.
