If you ever really need the weapon, your hands will be sweaty enough that the aggressive grip will be nice. In my opinion, if holding the weapon empty and sighting in doesn't bother you hands, neither will shooting it. The grip being comfortable is the important part.

I guess to many years behind a desk has made my hands a bit soft.

Maybe, maybe not. How does the grip feel when you're not shooting it? If it feels too rough just holding it, the you won't like it with rounds going down range. If you can comfortably squeeze the rough grip with your desk hands, then I doubt the range time will make any difference with the more textured grips.

It's surprisingly not, IMO. I handled one at my local shop - it's on a short list to be snagged up... While it LOOKS aggressive, I found it actually quite comfortable.

That was my major concern, range time and firing a couple hundred rounds.

You should go to a gun shop and grab a hold of one its really not that grippy

I look and hold one every time I am at the gun show and I will again this weekend.

The Raptor was the first Kimber I ever held. It felt like a cheese grater.

That was kind of my first thought but I really like the look.

I have the Pro Raptor in stainless. It's very comfy. Fits my hand well, and the checkering appears more agressive to me than it actually feels. This is my 1st 1911. I have a sneaky suspicion it wont be my last. In Gladi8r's hands it appeared to be a tack driver as well. LOL!!!

Got it last weekend - NIB, never been shot, 38 Super....THEN I find out the local shootin' clubs take their range time all serious-like. I think it's gonna end up back up for sale....
