Well, I was driving to work and I apparently did not use a blinker when changing lanes (despite the fact that there were no cars within 200 meters of me) and I got pulled over. I handed him my CHL and my DL...and he went back to the car while his partner stayed at my other window. He disarmed me and when they both came back I got just a warning while he threw the Ruger LCP in the trunk. I'm fairly convinced that it got me out of the ticket...

So I guess the $140 fee paid itself off haha

Damn, I would have been mad as hell if I were disarmed. Did he pull you from the car? Did he really throw the pistol in the trunk? We all know most modern pistolas aren't going to go BANG when dropped, but that is still a risk.

You handled it a WHOLE LOT BETTER than I would have. I would have been on the phone with his shift supervisor.

For what? He is allowed, under Texas law, to disarm you.

I would not mind being disarmed by a LEO. If i was in his shoes I would want to feel secure. Even though I know I am no danger to the officer, he does not.

Yes, I was disarmed. He asked me to step out of the car and put my hands on the roof and asked which pocket I had my firearm in...he retrieved it and then took it back to the squad car. When they both came back he told me to pop the trunk, I told him my trunk pop didn't work so he took my keys and put my Ruger LCP back in the trunk. I didn't care too much because I got out of a ticket.

But what REALLY makes no sense to me is why they would take it away and put it in the trunk after I got out of a ticket. I mean if they let me go for free that means i'm HAPPY...as in...no reason to shoot someone. But I don't really care, took all of 5 seconds to get the gun back in my pocket.

A few months ago I was given the same citation (I Guess I have a blinker problem, although i'm convinced that the previous cops lied because I saw them following me and I was 100% on guard) and I got a ticket. Oh well, the woes of driving a loud ass srt-4...but i'm thinking the chl saved me this time.

What bothers me is the search of the trunk. :-( If I didn't want it put there I guess I'd suggest the top of my car furthest away from me?

Why get upset? They drive off, you pull into McDonald's, put the gun back in your pants, then off to work you go!

I might be upset if he actually "threw" my firearm, but I think you meant it more as a figure of speech.
