I prefer the ruger sights but the sub2000 is a bit more accurate.

AR's, Glocks and, 10/22's are fine in their standard form. But these guns are the Legos or Barbies of the gun world. Accessories are endless and you can mix or match to suit yourself.
I tend to leave my Glocks very close to factory condition. I may change the connector, maybe not. Sometimes I change the sights, most of the time I leave the factory sights alone.
The P80 builds are not a money saving venture. You can buy a used Glock for less money. But, if you're wanting a gun modified to your particular need, you can buy individual parts and make it the way you want it.

I cannot believe I'm saying this, but I want a Glock. I eventually want to get a PCC in 9mm, and since pretty much all of them take Glock mags, I might as well get one of the damn things.

There's a few I've looked at. I don't think I want a G19 since I probably wouldn't carry it much (I prefer SA/DA for carry), but I would consider it. The G17 and the G34 are the two I'm most interested in. The G17 is, well a G17. Ain't nothing really that special about it. They apparently make a long slide version called the G17L, and it's kinda freakishly long. It doesn't look natural, but it's at least interesting. The G34 is what I'm kinda leaning towards. It's longer than a G17, but not too long. It just seems right, is supposedly has a decent trigger. I'm probably going to upgrade the trigger anyways, so that's not overly important.

What ever I get, I'd want to put a red dot on (MOS), and I will get an Alpha Wolf barrel for it so that I can shoot cast without blowing the gun up. The gun will mainly be a range toy. I'm tempted to build the thing from thr ground up using one of those Polymer 80 kits, but I'm not sure I want to spend that much on it. By the time I did everything I'd want to do, it would be at least a $1000 gun...

Any suggestion, opinions, smart ass remarks, ect?

I had a Glock 23 with a sub 2000. Sold them both to a friend. Bought the PCC and paired it to a Glock 19X. The X has the best stock trigger on a striker fired rig that I have ever shot and it is very accurate with the marksman barrel. I agree with zackmars. The long slide is not necessary if you are putting an optic on it.
I carry the PCC in my go bag in my truck. Am in process of looking for a sub 2000 in 9mm to put in a go bag in my wife's truck. I also have been thinking of an 80 build. I have a friend in the Glock parts business. Love building g guns.

Wait. Didn't you buy a Glock? Didn't you like it? Do you still have it? Are you feeling conflicted? I used to feel that way, then after much angst I realized that 1911s and Glocks can coexist. Now I own and shoot both and enjoy them all. They sleep each night side by side and have always gotten along well. The best therapy is more time on the range with ALL of your firearms of different cultures. Be inclusive. Diversity is good.

I have a Glock 21, 26, 19, 17C and an AR9 setup for Glock mags and a MechTech carbine setup for Glock 21 mags. Really nice to be able to use just a few mag types to run all of them. All high cap and some rotary drum mags as well. Great for the AR9 which has a Fostech binary trigger in it. Silencer will work for all of them too!

    Besides the Walther PPQ ;)
But seriously, the fifth gen Glocks have fantastic triggers. Crisp and clicky, short travel and reset, no more mush.

If you like the G34 and want more diversity get a G35 (40 S&W) and get a conversion barrel to 9mm since you are looking at a different barrel anyways.

For mags I have had good luck with the Magpul mags amd the ETS mags. Worth shopping around especially if you want higher capacity mags than Glock offers.

Edit to add: if you go with the G35 you can convert it to 357 Sig too.

I bought the G45 a 9mm Glock Series 5 (improved trigger action and no finger groves or lanyard loop and in black) that has a G19 slide and barrel on a G17 frame. Came about in late 2018, I bought mine mid last year. Totally ambi.

Welp, I didn't get a chance to fondle any Glocks while I was at the gun shop. They were super busy. The old fella was working on selling a suppressor, and the young guy was running around like a chicken with it's head cut off trying to keep up with everything getting thrown at him. They looked like they were a man short, so I didn't bother them with something I wasn't going to buy that day anyways. While they were getting my Sub 2K entered into their system, I did look though their inventory. They had a pretty good selection of Glocks. More than a half dozen types. They had the 17, 19, and the 34. I'll be back up that way before long so I'll pop back in and see if I can't get my hands on them. I'll also check and see if they have any of the other variants mentioned.

I've owned many Glocks, still have a few. I've owned all calibers except .357 Sig and 45 GAP. The only Glock that I didn't like was the G48. I really wanted to like it so bad but, I just couldn't shoot it well. I never figured out why.

G19 is my fave of the Glocks (for me it’s a better shooter than the G17). I like the keltec over the ruger.

Whatever you get, the G19 stock 15rnd mags don’t fit the keltec unless you shorten it’s grip.

Maybe get the G45 as it takes the longer magazines?
